Just because you donít want to do it doesnít mean that tourist from other areas and nations donít. They want to see the countryside of the USA. It is called Eco-tourism. This is very popular in other areas and Iím sure it will do quite well here. Open your mind. Oh wait, this is Topix, where people only complain and tell lies.

Why not have a bus pick up people at Walmart parking lot to go to Biloxi, and pay as you board,
even amount of dollars, no change involved?

Eco- tourism. Is that kind of like what is happening at the river? Bunches of out of toweners bring over a cooler of beer and sandwiches and float down the river. All the way strewing their garbage. And we have to pay for a Deputy to sit there and keep peace. And I am sure it is not wearing that patrol car out by sitting there idling all day burning a tank of gas. Eco-tourism.

Vacation plans

1. Come to Beautiful Florida.
2. Stop at State Line for Photos at sign.
3. Continue a few miles and get ticket for running red light.
4. Continue one block and get another ticket for speeding.
5. Continue a few more miles and get another ticket
6. Arrive at condo and unpack
7. Enjoy a nice Dinner and a couple of cocktails.

Day 2
1. Wife mentions wanting to go back to Speed Trap USA.
2. Spend rest of day in Bay County Jail for Domestic Violence.
3. Note to self, Bay County has nice Jail but BAD FOOD.
4. Get out of jail.
5. Go back to condo and shower Bubba Off.
6. Dinner and a lot of cocktails.

Day 3
1. Get the worst sunburn of my life.
2. Give in to the pressure (and promise of sexual favor) and do Eco-tour.
3. See corn and cotton growing, old house, swimming hole and lake of weeds.
4. Dinner and a lot more cocktails.
5. Collect on promise.

Day 4
1. Repeat day 3 with more sunburn.
2. Pack and get ready to come home.

Day 5
1. Get ticket in Cottondale.
2. Get ticket in Campbelton.
3. Stop at red light!
4. LEAVE FLORIDA

And finally, send "ecotourist" money back
to Clerk of Court.

HOW STUPID ARE THESE PEOPLE??????

Noone gives a rat's ass about leaving Panama City or Destin to come to Marianna for a day trip.

Marianna is NOT a tourist town. Use that money for better things than to try and attract 10 people to leave PCB to come look at peanut and cotton fields.

A thriving industrial program would do more for the population than the so-called "eco-tourism".

All the TDC's in the world are not going to help a county that has nothing to offer. As long as we have the current mindset that prohibits liquor by the glass the tourism and even the intended stop-overs will continue as is. And no new investors that have to depend on tourist services are going to come here. So this TDC is wasted money until there is something to promote so in these hard times a prudent and or competent County Commission would lead by conserving these funds to a real and needed project.

Whomever owns the rafting business should be responsible for keeping that part of the waterway clean.

Drinking? in Washington County? Why that would be normal like the rest of Florida. We can't have normalicity in the Bible belt. The Baptists would turn over in their graves. If you want all those things drive to Panama and bring it back to Washington County, that we can overlook.

TDC, Ted Everett needs to be closed down. It has done nothing for W.C. except cost money. All this is a salary for Everett. I wll vote against any County Commisioner that votes to give TDC another dime. It is a waste of money that could be used somewhere else. Times are tuff it has to go.

Everett has to make a living somehow. What a racket when you can run an agency that promotes your own business, motorcycle races and archery tournaments with public money. He has figured it out. Kudos to him for learning the system. That's what's got all the fat cats in this County rich. Wake up people. they do it right in front of you and noone complains. Business as usual. The good ole boy system at work. It can't/won't be defeated cause they run the system. Put some new blood in the system. Until then, it will be run the same way until they die, and their descendents run the show. It never changes.

I am pretty sure that the BOCC does not give them money, they collect a bed tax collected at hotels and rv camp sites

Um, no, they shouldn't. There are plenty of people who are not customers of the rafting company who use that river. It's not their responsibility to clean up after everyone on the river.

Perhaps the county should employee someone to do this job. Would be more effective than a Chamber Director or Tourist Development Director!

Good thought. Something needs to change, your were right about Everett promotes from the agencey he directs. TDC & Everett needs to go somewhere other than Wash. Co. Any idea's of getting rid of TDC ?

Voter has it wrong, Everitte is not the director of the TDC, it is volunteers that serve on it. He is not the only one on the TDC. No one is paid to serve on it, check with county finance office

That is what Jackson County needs. An All Volunteer TDC. Maybe the County needs to use some of the bed tax money to hire a building inspector dedicated to inspecting the business in the county. Maks sure that they have the proper licensure and meet code. Stop the poop from flowing in the river from the big white building on the hill.

why we need a EOC its a waste of money, its a salary going to someone who does absolutely nothing.
