Someone is a little bitter over the divorce.......This has nothing to do with her being a female, it has everything to do with her being a stupid teenager.

It has EVERYTHING to do with her being female! Ever tried calling the cops on your girlfriend/wife for Domestic Violence? Watch out, they'll throw you in jail for just calling and put a restraining order on you for it!

News report is wrong. What value is news if it is incorrect?

Correction 1: Megan Peterson did not hit the left-turning car head-on. She was s/b, the left turning car was in s/b in front of her slowing to turn left. She swerved left of that car and hit a oncoming car.

Correction 2: The fatality was an occupant of HER car, not the other car.

According to the accident report:

Unit 1 (Megan Peterson) travelling south on SR13 at a stated speed on 60 in a 55.

A vehicle headed southbound in front of unit 1 slowed to turn left/east onto Murray road.

Unit 1 swerved left of center to avoid the left-turning vehicle because she was unable to stop behind that vehicle.

Unit 2 was northbound on SR13.

When unit 1 swerved to the left of the left-turning vehicle, so hit unit 2 head-on.

The driver of unit 2 was medflighted.
Megan Peterson was medflighted.
The passenger of unit 1, a 23yo male from Johnstown Ohio died at the scene and was cut free.

Peterson was driving a Honda Accord. Oncoming vehicle was a GMC Yukon. Pretty bad combination.

If I am the passenger in a vehicle and the driver is texting, I'm getting out at the next light.

So a stupid teenager causes a car crash and somehow you relate that to your unruly girlfriend?

Good people don't kill other people. What was so important that she had to text instead of paying attention to her driving?

Probably was texting her boyfriend how she likes it. Now she can tell her female cell mate the same thing in person.
Actually, I think her boyfriend was the passenger that was killed.

Bottom line is this is a very sad story and I certainly hope all that survived will be all right. Condolences to the families of the deceased. This accident should set a precedent in the state of Ohio. Especially with all the cities passing the new texting while driving law. A reenactment film of this accident should be made and distributed as part of the Ohio Driver's Education course. It is only going to get worse if something is not put into place soon to warn these new drivers of how fatal texting and driving can be. Unfortunatly this young lady's near future is going to be very trying, as well it sounds as if she just lost a friend in the accident.

OMG people...come on. Yes this teenager was txting...she made a huge mistake....this will live with her forever...but do you have to trash her for something that most of you have also done but just haven't been caught up in an accident because of? Most of you have just been lucky but not w/o some very close calls. I think she's suffing enough just rehashing the whole day this ugly scene took place. She will undoubably pay for it...but don't trash someone's daughter. Would you want people to trash your child w/o even knowing them? I highly doubt it. We all make mistakes in life...even YOU!!!! And for all the ppl who say they have never txt while driving...the majority of you are not telling the truth. I am in no way saying txt while driving is ok...I'm just saying don't bad mouth this CHILD who's going through hell as well as her parents, aunts, uncles, brother,s ister, grandparents.

But if we have laws against texting this would stop. Right? Absolutley not! A law is not going to keep people from making bad choices. People need to realize that their split second bad choice can cost someone their life. Parents need to teach that to their children and let the kids learn from the consequences of their actions. This is not a job for the government, this is OUR job as parents. Teach them responsibility!

Easy solution... nobody under the age of 25 should have texting capabilities.

I hate HATE dealing with my (much) younger sister and her friends because they can't put three sentences together without stopping to text somebody or read an incoming text.

My mom complains about it non-stop... and yet she continues to pay for the texting package. She doesn't text at all. My sister doesn't need to. It would save like $30 a month on her cell bill...

Cheaper bill and forcing my sister to stop residing in text land; this is what rational people call WIN-WIN. But like so many other parents, she can't say no. I don't know when that attitude started, because I regularly was told no to things I wanted, but I digress.

You stop this problem at the most basic level, and it doesn't need to be legislated to death. Teenagers do not NEED texting capabilities. All they use if for is: "OMG, STFU... Jsn does SO lke me, hoe" and "LOL @ ur crzy @$$"

Now... let's see how many teens and young 20's flip out on me... and yet can't provide any specific reason they NEED text capability (work related).

I feel sorry for her, she made a serious mistake and is paying for it every day she wakes up and remembers she is responsible for it. She should pay for her actions, but I really don't think jail time will do it. I think she should do community service, go into schools and talk to kids and tell them how these things "that only happen to other people" happened in a split second. My heart goes out to the family who lost their son. I'm a mother with a son in the military and you worry everyday about their life especially while overseas, and then to lose them in an accident in a split second while they are on leave and in their hometown. The whole situation is so sad. The young man who was hurt also, his family has been put on hold as he recuperates. My prayers still go out for all involved, but I still don't think jail time is deserved.

My only comment to you Einstein is...I'm glad you have never seen anyone over 25 years old txting while driving. I am sure the other 1.5 million people in Columbus have seen someone over 25 txting.
