What new business does Marengo need most?
#125 Feb 1, 2011
I'm moving to marengo from the chicago area, taxes are very reasonable <refer to cook county taxes>small grocery stores should be utilized mom and pop is what makes a small town if you shop elsewhere then move elsewhere your feeding money into another township's pocket. When moving to a town exspecially a small one you must support the local business its a monoploly yes but what will your property be worth if all the small businesses closed down?Complainiong is easy, supporting your neighbors and community is hard.Small towns are a dying breed time to pump some tlc back into small towns and create the enviroment we want to raise our kids in not bitch about it.......

I am a Marengo resident and the town needs new business BADLY!!!! I can not stand Wisteds its nasty.
The residents in Marnego drive to other towns to shop and they get our revenues.
The schools are out of date and no air. Kids with allergies suffer with no air.
I do all of my shopping out of town, theres nothing here to offer residents.
Brandts is the worse!!!!!
Big box stores would be great. Tear down the old crack house down on 176 and Millstream, add a store.
Marengo does not make residents clean their properties. Drive around you see old toilets in front yards, cars that don't run, etc. etc.
The bowling alley is a joke they are so expensive. I can drive to algonquin and its a buck a game and they open before 1.
People as well as myself need to get the people off the board and make Marengo a great place where people want to live and raise families. Instead they just keep getting in immigrants because its a easy hiding place and multiple families move in together and ruin our schools economy. When signing my kids up for school I have never seen so many reduced lunches. Its not people don't have jobs they just don't want to work, Who does when the goverment gives them everything they need and want. Food, housing and medical. If I can get it I sure would. But of course I don't qualify. We just have to pay for everyone else.
Marengo could be as beautiful as Barrington, need to get rid of the low lifes and start building this community before it just gets worse.

The convenience store on 176 barely survives as it is, and there is someone LIVING in that supposed "crack-house", and he's about 90 years old...

Well Lee... If you like Barrington and Algonquin so much, then by all means, live there! That is just what this town needs, another person who thinks they know it all. I am one of those people who has been forced to use the school lunch program! That's what happens when the economy sucks and you go from a job making 35.00 an hour to a job making 10.50! You were probably one of the idiots who voted in Obama too! Good Luck to you

Does anyone know anything about the new gun/coin shop on 20? In the lindows building?
I heard the guys working there were rude and they didn't have much to sell, but I have never been there myself. Any thoughts?
