Edmund Sullivan was my cousin. He was neither indigent nor a recluse. He was fiercely independent, a very private person and was happy to live his life the way he chose. He had many friends and regularly participated in family events as well. He spent Thanksgiving with us each year...and refused Christmas invitations because he had standing invitations from friends. He was sharp as a tack and had many interests. We have many great memories of times spent at the house in Marblehead. I'd say Edmund's eccentricities were not eccentricities at all, but just old fashioned Yankee sensibilities...if something worked, you didn't replace it. While we mourn his passing and will miss him deeply, we are happy that he never had to endure a long illness, loss of independence or other indignities.
