Just wondering how many people trashing Mr. Ivey would be standing in line if he were passing out hundred dollar bills, singing his praises, then of course trashing him again once their handout was gone!? He could open a dozen different businesses here and it wouldn't do any good! The majority of people in marble hill don't want to work fir anything, they expect everything to be handed to them. I've lost hope for this town and can't wait to get out!
. I can honstly say without any doubt that I would not take 1 red cent from that man!!! I would rather starve then give him the satisfaction!!! And no I am not a welfare recipiant, I work hard 4 everything that I have, but as far as that man goes, actions speak louder then words and he's made and done a lot of bad 1's, I'm with the people that say he should leave, y did he even waste his time coming back? He's made a lot of good speaches, but hasn't followed through with them. Of course people don't like him, you can only be lied 2 so many times before u get enuf and write that person off and that's what has happened 2 him. Instead of being upset with what people say about him maybe he should actually do some of the things that he has said he was gonna do, he woulda just said he was gonna come back buy everything up and not do anything 2 make this town better then no 1 would have any reason 2 bitch about it, but the fact remains that he did say it and he did make himself a big fat liar, no1 likes liars no matter where they r from!!!!!

Why is it up to Mr. Ivey to save the hell hole you all choose to whallen in an not get off your dead asses an help fix. Get a grip with reality people. You can be the difference don't push it off on Mr. Ivey.
. If u haven't been paying attention 2 the rest of the thread on here, let me clarify 4 u...... People r not complaining about lloyd ivey 4 their problems. They r complaining about the fact that he made promises and did not follow through with. I mean come on if we believe I proof around here, after all it is the show me state and he hasn't shown much of anything except empty ugly eyesore buildings. If he's not going 2 do anything that he said he was going 2 do, sell the shit and let sum1 else make something of it. But wait sum1 else couldn't buy it because he would price it so high that only another rich person could buy it. I'm off my dead ass and work 40 hours plus a week and still come home and take care of my family, I may not have much, but atleast I have my word!!! Once u lose the trust of others ur done, it doesn't matter if u have money or not!!!!

Mr. Ivey's worked PRETTY DAMN hard for what he has! Believe me, I've known him since I was born. No matter what you hear or say, he doesnt own the WHOLE TOWN. Therefore, it's not his full responsibility. The other half that he doesnt own??? You guys have to take charge of it yourselves, instead of blaming him for every single problem you have or see. I don't even see a single connection between this situation and the religious views of certain people.
For once, just try to take it into your own hands by talking to officials.

Lloyd Ivey hasn't paid for the last 4 years fireworks, he may have contributed to them - but I know for a fact that the people who actually put them on went around town collecting from all the businesses for the fireworks display. So it was actually put on by the businesses.

Lloyd had nothing to do with making this town - it was here long before he came - and will be here long after he is gone. He was nothing but a high school drop out and came back several years ago to show off his money - that's all.

He is still nothing but a show off and braggart - and he accomplishes nothing but causing a lot of friction among the citizens. I would hate for people to befriend me simply because I had money - its sad really.

Take a stand for Jesus Christ? I've read your postes and so far what I've seen is a lot of blame, critism and lashing out..and you're doing in the name of Christ...you've got a lot of nerve using name of the good Lord in such a fashion. If you want to take a stand for Christ follow his example and be a peacemaker. Critisizing this Ivey guy isnt going to help your community...and dont speculate about how you may think he got his money. How he got it is his business...just the same way you get your money is your business.
I am one of these "Conservative Christians" and I agree with you. Bible Thumper you should not be on here posting in the "Lord's" name. Shame on you. If you have a problem with Ivey take it up with him, man to man just like the Bible says.

I think, no SCRATCH that, KNOW that we all ARE real. And by definition- A ghost town means a completely deserted town. As far as I know, the town isn't completely deserted. Maybe if you got up off your lazy butt and tried to help, by doing work or donating, the town would be better!

What does religion have to do with bringing businesses to this area? Nothing. "It's the economy, stupid." Wasn't this Loyd Ivey guy the one who was responsible for opening the city pool? I'm far from a Bible thumper and I share Mr. Ivey's frustration with them and how they are always trying to tell people how to live their lives but it does bother me how there aren't many businesses in this area anymore; I just don't think religion has much to do with that.
NO Mr. Ivy did not put the pool in this town !!

Whatever, what things are you talking about?? I haven't heard of anything that he wanted to do for our town that was "shot down by city officials." I would like to hear the exact things he wanted to do and the reason you think they were "shot down by city officials." I'm not sure that city officials can shot down any business ideas unless they had to approve a license?? Do not say paving the airport because it would not have benefit the majority of people in our small town....now bringing in a business that employs a few people would benefit the town but paving the runway giving a few--a very few people better access to our town would not help. I believe that many of our citizens feel discouraged about the things that Mr Ivy has said/done is so far all you can see he has done is buy up buildings in Marble Hill. He fixes up some but leaves many empty. And actual at this time I believe that just maybe that $40,000 would have been better spent on hiring 2 of our many unemployed people in our small town. We need jobs not fireworks.
Your a dumbass. I will say paving the airport. Paving the airport would allow him to come straight into M. Hill and not have to fly to STL then drive two hrs. Anyways, are you paying for any of that? No so don't worry bout it. By the way were there any businesses in the buildings he bought before he bought them...no! He is not hurting our local economy, he is just helping the asthetics of the town. And as far as fixing the buildings he buys many of the supplies here in town, which in turns helps the local economy. Another thing the fireworks were awesome and so was the pool lining he donated to the city pool!! What have you done for our city???? SO SHUT YOUR MOUTH!!!

No he didn't open the pool but he did donate the lining for it so that it could be opened this year.
