I, for one, am voting for Travis Elfrink for Presiding Commissioner. He's a very intelligent, college educated young man with a desire to make the county a better place. I know he'll do a great job, and has no ulterior motives, other than public service.

Nothing against Travis other than he was not too smart making the decision not to wear a seat belt and he has always been spoiled rotten who thought his shit didn't stink. I remember the school carnival of 2000 and his parents trying to buy him a win, didn't work! Also I didn't think it was right to take advantage of the working people of Bollinger county by reaping over $100,000 in benefits because of his accident, especially when he had a million dollars in health insurance coverage. I just didn't see a need there, maybe greed???? I guess if he wins the country will have to pay someone to drive him around, feed him and help him pee and poop

I do not know Travis but I do know when you are a teenager you make several bad decisions. That doesn't mean you don't grow up and become a responsible adult.

If his parents wanted to buy him a win at the school carnival they could have unless someone else wanted to buy it more for their child. Winning was determined by amount of money spent--period! So could be bought and often was..........

Are you serious? You apparently don't know Travis or his family very well, or you would know that his insurance didn't cover that amount or any amount close to that! The money they recieved was to help pay the cost of all the medical bills that the insurance didn't pay. Do you even know what him and his family go through day in and day out? I didn't think so! No amount of money would make me want to go through what his family is going through everyday! The whole carnival thing of his parents trying to buy him a win, well i know that goes on every year with parents! Always has always will! That doesn't make him or his parents any different than anyone else. I think Travis will be a great Presiding Commissioner!

And I guess the lesson here is "he who has the most money wins"? I guess Grandma will be standing at the voting place handing out $5 bills?

You better hope I never find out who you are "Not Me"! You're a %^$#@ing sociopath, you ignorant wretch. People make mistakes. Travis wasn't even drinking (like most of the kids around here), when he had his ACCIDENT. He's a good person, and what goes around, comes around. So, when something tragic happens to someone that you love, don't scratch your head and say "Why me?". Then we can start a new thread on Topix, and stomp on your worthless lives. Go back to your HUD housing and minimum wage job, and keep your ignorant comments to yourself.

I too will not be voting for him, and it was more like $175,000 total. Wide screen tv's, new computer, new carpet and furniture, plus new vechicles---plus the attitude they are better than the common folk-don't look like there was a "need" there to me either. One good thing about this country is that you can vote and campaign for whomever you wish---it is sad that the accident happened and no I would not wish that living hell on anyone but think of those born that way that had no choice.

you are obviously the one who needs to keep your dumb comments to your self. why would anybody even start a discussion on politics and ask "what do you all think"? its an opinonated topic so expect the worste stupid! oh and you say go back to your hud and minimum wage job...well thats no way to score votes in this area considering you live here as well and truth be known your family probably worked for min wage at the paramount headwear.

First of all Larry B, you are correct. It is sad that the accident happened, and you can vote for whomever you wish. Secondly, Brian Elfrink works his #$% off to afford the luxuries for his only son, handicapped or not. I can assure you that whatever amount of money they have received, they would gladly return in exchange for their son not being paralyzed. What the hell is wrong with you people......new computer, new carpet....really? How many people get these things? I'll tell you who, EVERYONE that's works hard for it! As far as the politics, you idiots keep voting Democrat. We'll see how fast the system implodes on itself under this God forsaken administration. By the way, I didn't start the topic, but I sure as hell won't let someone slam a good man.

Travis and his family are amazing people and would do anything for anyone in the world...their lifes were flipped upside down!!!! They have dealt with it and done an amazing job-and Travis is a very smart and amazing person! His mother and father are saints-2 of the nicest people in the world....you should be ashamed of yourself for slamming or talking bad about these wonderful people....if you are so cool you should post your name and admit your stupidity
