Boaters, you've missed the key word....Bayliner. Not a boat designed for the ocean, a lake, canal or pond.
So that leaves us with the next question, how many idiots own a Bayliner in Key Colony?
Obama said he'd fix the economy so I could afford a bigger boat then a Bayliner!

Jim, take your meds and go to bed for eight years. When you wake up you might, if you're lucky, have anohter Republican retard as President. Somehow I doubt it, so be prepared for another eight years of a government actually doing something for the people who voted them in, and not the corporations who contributed to campaign coffers!

Thanks for posting. The story is a little more descriptive - but I can't grasp how they can say the mother and child went into the water in an attempt to swim to shore. The little girl is 2!!!!

The article also keeps saying "mother and daughter could not call for help, mother and daughter ran out of gas". This is all the mother's fault.

Stupidity to go boating without any communication at all.

Her required coast guard package should have had an anchor. Then she could have thrown out the anchor instead of drifting 20 miles.

Also should have had a flare kit to send a distress signal.

Hmmmmmm I wonder if they found the boat? Maybe they were illegals dropped off somewhere and the story is made up.

what do you mean "bound" for their home, and "drifting" overnight? KCB IS in Marathon. There is no need to be anything more a 100-200 yards off the shore in most places to get around.

first of all, she's a drunk, 2ndly, the boat was borrowed from a neighbor and she obviously knows nothing about yachting, and lastly us locals here in Marathon think she should be prosecuted for child endangerment. She could have taken a cab home in 10 minutes for $5. Now also, bear in mind that the weather was ferocious earlier this week(heavy lightening storms) which is the only way she could have ended up NE of her departure when our prevailing winds are SE 90% of the time. She's an idiot and should let Dad take care of his daughter.

I guess she's never heard of checking the gas tank BEFORE she takes off in the boat. STUPID! STUPID! STUPID!
