"Reservations should be made 'at least' a day in advance?"....
I live nearby and walk through that area frequently around sunset, and on almost any given day at that time there are VERY few cars in the parking lot. So few that I've often wondered if the sunset and views are the high point for their customers- how can they can stay in business with so few customers during that time of day?
As you can see in the picture, it is evening/sunset and there are only three cars in the parking lots.(http://www.aznightbuzz.com/stories/287820.php )
Other than a Saguaro Ranch security cart and Marana Police cars in the parking lot, this is how it looks most nights.
They claim in the bankruptcy filings that this is restaurant and lounge with 17,0000 sq ft that seats 145 people on the main floor and an additional 48 people on the upper floor (roof), with 30 full time employees. With that amount of real estate and overhead it would seem that they should want/need a full house every night.
By advertising that reservations should be made "at least" a day in advance; when by all appearances there is more than enough space and full time staff on hand, just might just be the type of pretentious business mentality that led the development into bankruptcy in the first place.
Interestingly, this restaurant advertises on the Opentable website as "Accepting WALK-INS" (http://www.opentable.com/rest_profile.aspx... ) Which, if true, would make sense considering this is a business that is located on top of a "Recorded Public Easement" and who is receiving bankruptcy protection from it's creditors and contractors.
As such, it should, at the very least, be a performance based business - willing to do whatever it takes to be profitable.
However, this article appears to indicate that is not the case. It appears they not only still requiring reservations, but they now advertising that reservations should be made "at least" a day in advance?
With so many local restaurants going out of business and/or struggling to stay in business in this economy, it seems counter productive for a restaurant that is in bankruptcy court to advertise anything that would even remotely serve to detour customers.
I don't know who does their marketing, but that IS a beautiful picture... of an empty parkng lot.
