It has been proven over and over and over...The GREAT majority of charter schools perform WORSE then the local schools (no matter how bad!!) Check out the research from Rutgers and STanford. If you want to fix schools LISTEN to the people in the trenches. 98% of teachers are good, fair hard working and caring...they want the children to succeed...but cramming 30 kids in a class and cutting all services (Title I, Special Ed., after school programs)...you are setting up schools for failure. Why not allow PUBLIC SCHOOLS to follow the rules that charters follow? Why not cut all the red tape for public schools? NJ has the best public schools in the nation...ther is ample proof from the national test to AP scores. Instead of destroying all of our public schools...with gimmicks such as charter schools, merit pay, tenure reform, vouchers, Let's FIX the problems and lets be honest.. a good quality education is expensive...look at the BEST private schools...they are expensive...education is expensive.
