My heartfelt sympathies go out to the Claydes Smith family and the
members of his great, famous, and respectful band,'Kool and the Gang'. To Claydes's children and grandchildren, keep on livin and growin' and be the best that you can be. Mr. Smith, I'm sure, is the way that he wants you all to continue to be.
Kool and the Gang is my all time favorite group. I am a native New Yorker. I remember heaing back in the 1960's, the songs 'Chocolate Buttermilk' and 'Let The Music Take Your Mind'. Those two songs showed me the talent and creativity of the young funk band from Jersey City, New Jersey. Claydes' funky guitar licks and chords are among the featured highlights of those two songs.
From my perspective,Claydes Smith had a cool, laid back, and peaceful demeanor. Claydes, you were 'Kool & the Gang.'

Kool and the Gang his always been my favorite group too, of all times. I am a native Philadelphia. I remember seeing & hearing Kool and the Gang back in the 1970s, Live At The Sex Machine 52nd & Market St. The songs from the Lite Of Worlds followed by Fruitman, Summer Madness, Those songs showed us the talent, zeal and creativity of this Universal funk band from Jersey City, New Jersey. Claydes' funky guitar licks and chords are among the featured highlights of those songs. From my perspective, Claydes Smith with the coolest, & laid back demeanor.'Claydes,
