Wouldn't it have made more sense for Gov. Gregoire and the legislature to focus all this activity on turning kids toward sports that don't carry high risk for brain injury? Lystedt Bill apparently sounded good to legislatures, but not if they had followed the money - doctors and lawyers who lobbied for passage of this bill stand to gain financially from examining kids and then suing public school districts when injury is found (see Richard Adler, Lystedts and Tahoma Schools). Not so great for kids allowed, including by their parents, to keep playing until they are brain injured.
