M-80 firecracker explodes in Vancouver girl's hand

A 12-year-old Vancouver girl was injured Monday when an M-80 exploded in her hand.

Why are these fireworks illegal?
Yup... duh!

She kept it out in the open in her bedroom... duh!
She lit it in the bedroom...duh!
then...oh, I didn't mean to light it... I'll just walk through the house with it...jeesh.
oh my it exploded in my hand, that's peculiar... duh, maybe I should have carried it to the bathroom between my teeth. Big... duh!

Why are these fireworks illegal? When will folk wise up? Every year people line up to purchase and hoarde these things... openly... and set them off openly... with their kids. We all are subjected to the noise, the stink, and the litter for weeks before and after the 4th. Our neighborhoods sound like war zones.

Prosecute, enforce the stupid law. This kid gets to be reminded now for the rest of her life that these kinds of fireworks are illegal for a reason and her parents get to be reminded as well.

All private displays of fireworks should be outlawed. They are an absolutely ridiculous extravagance, a hazard for the individuals involved and for innocent people in the neighborhoods where they are set off, totally unnecessary.

i think she didn't do for a reason. she might not have a clue why she did it. and on top off hat she is just a kid she doesn't no what she is doing half the time. People give her a brake. I don't understaid the problem here. Do you?

m-80 fire crackers are powerful but if a kid was able to get access to one its the parents fault for not paying attention to their child but if the kid was say a 15 year old i would hold them accountable because even at that age you should have enough common sense not to hold it in your hand every year the number of fire work accidents keep going up you would think we would learn by now but its seems that society gets stupidier and stupdier each year and outlawing the practice of private fireworks wont stop it an uneducated hillbilly can make an m-80 the only thing we can actually do is set a good example for our children to practice this tradition safely and hope people get some sense
