Just Brakes 1433 E. Broadway Pearland

Warning ! Warning ! Warning !

Avoid Just Brakes at all cost. They run an elaborate scam to try and get you to do brake work that you don't need. They quoted my brother in law $2000 for an assortment of repairs they say were needed. Once they have your vehicle on the rack with the tires and calipers removed they refuse to take NO for an answer. We ended up getting the $99 special for $337, we were willing to pay that to just get away from the place. The manager, Emilo Fernandez even had the nerve to say "we have to make money somehow".

Find hundreds of complaints at Compliants.com or Pissed Consumer.com to name a couple sites.

You've been warned.

DO NOT----DO NOT VISIT THIS STORE--- You will inevitably wind up taking your vehicle to another place THAT WILL ACTUALLY FIX YOUR BRAKES. They are incompetent, disrespectful and virtually have no clue as to what they are doing. They take advantage of women and are terribly rude. WORST experience. BEYOND TERRIBLE. After 2 visits, they still did not repair my brakes. And then they want to look at me as if I am in the wrong. This place is a joke. Go if you want to waste time, money and lots of tylenol. Manager and employees are all a-typical "men" in their industry. Can we scratch our heads some more? They may have more success at juggling parts rather than actually putting them to use. CANNOT trust them with your vehicle. They have no idea what they are doing. Not one coherent idea. Just take your vehicle to someone who will actually fix it and not give you a hard time....

Went to a Just Brakes in Houston, on HWY 6. They took my brakes apart, had me come into the garage and quoted me $800. I said I wanted a second opinion. They told me they didn't know if they could put it back together because they broke some part taking it apart. I didn't say anything, I just went and sat down. 45 minutes later the manager comes in and tries to tell me I need to walk down the road to a auto parts store and buy a part myself, out of pocket. I said, "No. If you couldn't get it back together, you shoudln't have taken it apart,." They called some kind of general manager, or the main manager, and he can in and looked at the car and left?. Then they ended up putting it back together.. I can imagine that some people might just get intimidated by this stuff'. The mechanic and the manager on duty, basically made it seem like if I didn't pay the $800 repair I would have an unusable car and that I couldn't drive it out of there". I was prepared to pay more than the 99;.88 fee they advertise, I understand there's other stuff that often needs to be done'. But they tried to charge me 8 times as much, and then tried to bully me into doing it by acting like they couldn't get my car to be driveable?.

I recently took my wife's car to a couple of local mechanics for a brake job estimate. I knew the front rotors were warped and needed to be replaced, I was holding out until it needed a complete brake job. By the time my wife told me her car was making a funny noise, the rear brakes had apparently been worn down to the indicators for quite some time, as they were beyond turning, too. The estimates I got were for roughly $450 and $480; I also took it to the local dealership for comparison, they quoted me about $800. Now I knew Just Brakes has a bad reputation for dishonest business practices, but that's a significant amount of money to pay for a brake job and I figured it couldn't hurt to give them the benefit of the doubt and take it by for a free quote, right? So...any guesses as to what they quoted me? How does over eleven hundred dollars sound? That price included refurbishing all 4 calipers at a cost of $175...EACH! When I told them to forget it and put the car back together, they wanted to negotiate. I wasn't interested in anything they had to say at that point, so they took their sweet time putting the car back together.

When I took the car back to the mechanic that gave me the original quote, I told him I had taken the car to Just Brakes for an estimate...he laughed and said "let me guess...they said you need to recondition your calipers, right"? Even knowing what a bunch of crooks they are, he was still shocked at the quote they gave me. I was the only car he had in the shop at the time and he had another mechanic working on it, so he took the time out to give me a quick lesson on brake calipers and showed me that mine were working fine. So much for giving Just Brakes the benefit of the doubt.

BTW, there's an Auto Zone within spitting distance of the north Fort Worth/Keller Just Brakes, they sell refurbished calipers for my wife's car for $55 each. When I told them to forget it and put the car back together, they wanted to negotiate. I wasn't interested in anything they had to say at that point, so they took their sweet time putting the car back together.

Rip Off - Just Brakes

They are the biggest rip off artists that I have ever seen. The managers are told to look for things like car seats, or family pictures so that they can scare you into buying services. They mention your kids and spouse riding in the car with unsafe brakes just to scare you into paying for things that you don't realy need. They even have what they call the phone track, which everyone must memorize before the can even be considered for a management position. Everyone who answers the phone must know it, because you are not allowed to say anything over the phone that is not on the phone track. They even call from corporate office posing as customers to make sure you are going by the phone track.
