My family and I have know Mike for over 30 years. He was a quiet, decent, hard working man that loved his family very much. He has become very ill in the past year with a kidney disease and needed a transplant, unable to work and as a result depression took over him. For reasons of her own, his wife left him and he was all alone to deal with his ilnness. He was a normal guy who loved his wife and sons very much who found himself in such turmoil that he hit his breaking point and he took all his frustrations and anger out on Mr. Newton. It is a shame that Mr. Newton had to lose his life because of this. It is sad all the way around. He has two sons that have to read about their father being a monster. I want you to know you father was not a monster, he was a good man who did a very horrible unimaginable thing. I wish maybe someone in his life would have taken the time to see the signs that Mike was in such mental distress and help him. He was clearly not in the right frame of mind and under his normal mental circumstances never would of done this. People make comments and judgements all the time but you never really know what went on that led to this. Show both families the respect they deserve as grieve the loss of their loved ones.

I knew Stephen Newcomb and he was a kind and giving person, who was going to to a grandfather and now will never have the chance because of Mr.Targett. Where are Mr.Targett's parents? any siblings? was there no one that was around him during this time? What kind of a relationship did he have with his sons?
