This is a truly a tragic story, but I find it hard to see how the university is at fault. Are we now saying that unless a college protects students from themselves they are liable for damages in the event of an accident? Doesn't personnel responsibility factor into this case? My heart goes out to this kids family, it a very sad story, but the university is not to blame for his death.

sure, he died, sad, but after 2 years they are going to decide to profit from his death. you know, nomatter the situation you can make up any story to sue someone, he was probable drunk and went down the schute. college kids are stupid! i just think this is rediculous that he wasnt responsible enough that night, died and now money hungry ppl want to profit from it. typical!

If he hadn't been drinking, he wouldn't have ended up in the trash chute in the first place. Is that the universities' fault also?

You have got to be kidding me! They are just trying to get rich.

I think it's a shame that these kids get drunk, kill themselves by accident and then the parent sue. Oh no, not my kid drinking huh, if they only know what goes on at a college campus

I agree with the other two posts. Yes it's a shame but in the end the Univ is not at fault. The family seems like they are trying to make a buck off of his death.

I wish NBC10.com would name the authors of these articles. This piece was poorly written, with numerous examples of poor grammar and unclear statements.

"The parents of a 19-year-old student whose body was found in a Pennsylvania landfill after a frantic, four-week search filed a wrongful death lawsuit Monday accusing his college of not securing its trash-compacting system" -- run-on sentence!

"The Superior Court lawsuit does not specify a damage amount in the death nearly two years ago of John Fiocco Jr., a freshman at The College of New Jersey just outside Trenton." -- run-on sentence!

An important part of journalism is being able to convey the facts accurately, succinctly, and in a manner that is digestible by your audience!

THE PARENTS ARE TWO SORRY PATHETIC MORONS. The Judge should throw out this case and rule that the parents are not only morons but stupid too.
