This year was supposed to be an improvement, but yet again has turned into a year of mis-managed coaching of players. Players have been placed in wrong positions to optimize performance. Conditioning is lacking on varsity, where jv looks like they do most of the running in practice.
Talent is there in the lower ranks, but this past season only a few freshman tried out of the 13 that played as 8th graders, most listing the reason beiing the varsiity coach. One freshman made the varsity team but her perfomance on jv is riidden with turnovers, and she is not a leader in any catagory. Another freshman with great athletic ability has been under utilized and put on the shelf. Senoirs don't command the leadership, only because the coach shackles the entire program. Its time to get coaches at galion who supply the tools for success, and create expectations. We don't have that in girls basketball, instead we have a coach who is communist to her team, and does not budge when it comes to doing what's best for the team, and winning. Ii think its about time to shelf the varsit, and build for the future. Jv team is winning, but has lost a few recently, all do too game management, and not having the best players on the floor. Kids make mistakes, but don't bench them for one or two quarters, they need to learn and gain experience, after all coaching is teaching.
