Dems should release the Synder emails. Taxpayers and voters will see Prague for the nasty manipulative politician that he is. So sorry for South Windsor. Streeter was a good mayor. Prague will trick and deceive at every turn.

Should be interesting to see who SW brings in now to continue ruining a once quaint town. I remember when the town had only one traffic light. Now it's an over populated, yuppie wanna-be town. The idiots that run the place have allowed it to become over congested with housing and mall traffic. Great job on the mile long drag strip you've created called Buckland Road which is now a cut through straight thru the town. Ever wonder why it takes 15 minutes to get from Sullivan Avenue to the I-84 onramp? That's because SW let Manchester have the mall and didn't want the traffic. Well, now they have the traffic and not nearly the tax rewards. Idiots in office I say. And let's not even touch upon the snot-nosed, whipper snapper cops you have on every corner with a hard-on for giving a speeding ticket. Imagine if they truely fought crime? And how are those taxes doing? Must need another set of flood lights on the little league baseball field so the 12 year olds can play at 10:00 at night. Money well spent for sure.

I agree. My wife and I left SW approx. a year ago after 34 years. When we moved to SW Buckland was one rung up from a dirt road, the only traffic light in town was at the five corners and farming was the primary industry. SW has truely lost it's village charm and the relaxed pace of life we originally found there. I guess the yuppies would call it progress. I call it a lost way of life. To bad.

The position of Mayor, in the context of our form of government, means very little except for a ego-boost to the person holding the 'championship belt'.

No executive power. Basically elected by his own Party.

Call the position what it is, "Town Council Lead".

Goodluck Matt on your new endeavor. Too bad many of your fellow residents cannot recognise your 21-year, voluntary commitment to the town. Your success as a town manager will serve as an icon for the public policy program at UConn. Congratulations

Now Bazzano can move Snyder to the council, ending the Snyder vs. Daugherty fighting. Next election Maneeley can go back to Board of Ed. where she won't have to READ.
Better watch out "Boys", Snyder just might be the 2008 mayor.

Congrats to Matt, now if we could get rid of our other Matt!

I suppose you want us to hug a tree and plant a flower too huh? I won't appologize for saying it as I see it. Unless you've lived in town for 25+ years, don't preach to me how I don't know what I'm talking about. SW was a great little town. It still is a good town, but nothing like it once was. That's a result of idiotic town officials letting the mall run rampant. Crime is up as a result of non-SW residents passing thru. Go read the SWPD press releases online. See for yourself. Sure the school system and municipal services are great, but they're not free. They're taxing the living he|| out of residents. Do you know how much it it costing SW taxpayers to run the baseball field lights every night? You'd puke if you knew. Who allowed this? Who approved this? Town idiots!

You are way off base. Millions are not spent to get elected at the local level. These people volunteer their time and take a lot of abuse from people like you who think they know the facts but don't. If you have proof of them making "big bucks" behind closed doors bring it out in the open, otherwise stop spreading false rumors. If you think you can do a better job run for office.

I think someone said approximately the same thing in another blog but it bears repeating. Town Council members don't get paid and if someone has evidence of kickbacks, go to the State Police with it. Otherwise, close your mouth. Congratulations Matt. Palmer is getting a good man. My best wishes for success to whomever is appointed Mayor. It is a very hard job that not too many people want, especially with the rude behavior of some of the town folk. But know that most of us are not like the few who enjoy being obnoxious on this blog.

Republican hypocrites lecture about the new west harford and upscale south windsor. Funny they denied Aldi's food store on Buckland - competes with Stop and Shop - sells food too cheap. Now bring in huge mega liquor store - will bring drunks driving into and out of that part of town. Good choices?? What are these republicans doing? Changing south windsor or destroying us all?

How about a VIP store for the adults? That could be a comp for the liquor store?

These are the services a civilized society wants and needs. In West Hartford they understand the needs of the people. They have safe synthetic turf fields for the children with not a word of complaint from the people. They have flowers planted thru the town maintained by the town. They are a shinning star of diversity. They are in short what We want to be. With continued leadership of this council We will get there !

Dont fret, the evolution of South Windsor will continue!

Don't joke. If it brings in tax dollars for artificial turf....

Imagine the fun for our upscale republicans. Shopping at Evergreen Walk in the day. Workout at LA Fitness. Dinner at Evergreen. Beer and sex toys for later. The new republican downtown. Hurrah!!!

- You forgot to add the following from the Charter: During his absence or disability, his duties shall be performed by the Deputy Mayor or, in the absence of both, by a member chosen by the council. This should stop Bazzano trying to get the position of Mayor. But, a rule of the Charter will not stop him. He is above the Charter.
