Tommy Kingery, owner of Mansfield Service Center, looks over his tow trucks that were destroyed by arsonists early Saturday.
Arsonists struck at Mansfield Service Center on Highway 5 south of Mansfield early Saturday, destroying three large tow trucks and damaging several others.

In addition, a pickup truck was stolen along with some other items taken.

Owner Tommy Kingery estimated the loss at around $300,000.

"A passerby saw the fire and called 911 at 4:58 a.m.," Kingery said, and I was notified at 5:17 a.m."

Kingery said three trucks were a total loss, six others were damaged, and 16 customer vehicles were tampered with. One large tow truck Kingery had recently purchased was valued at $180,000.

He said the vandals had used batteries to short circuit and ignite the fires.

"I was preparing to open a towing service in Mountain Grove," Kingery said. "The three destroyed trucks were ready to go to Mountain Grove."

Stolen items included a 1985 black Chevrolet shortbed pickup, a GPS, a 12-volt diesel pump, a scanner, and batteries from two customers’ vehicles.

"They went through the glove box on every vehicle here," he said.

He said the loss is covered by insurance.

Kingery is offering a $2500 reward to anyone with information leading to the arrest and conviction of those involved.
