Idol Hopefuls' Wet Weekend

Full story: Hartford Courant

FOXBOROUGH, Mass. - - Yes, they were singing in the rain. Showers and unseasonable cold winds didn't stop thousands of "American Idol" hopefuls from turning out Sunday for the show's Season 9 auditions at Gillette Stadium in Foxborough.

"It would mean the world to me," said Brittany Edgett, 25, a resident of "four or five towns" in New Hampshire. "I'm just trying to make a better life for me and my daughter and my boyfriend ... trying to get a little better in life than what we've been dealt so far."

Rome is burning and we Fiddle.

Was it PT Barnum who said "there's a sucker born every minute"?

These shows are bubble gum for the mind.

You got that right. 7,000 pathetic souls, looking for meaning in their lives, have to turn to a stupid talent show in order to find self worth. Meanwhile, America is going down the tubes, but hey, as long as I get on American Idol, so I can go to Hollywood. Working a soup kitchen or animal shelter would bring these lost souls more self worth and pleasure.

Question for all of you. How many of you can name the last six contestants of the past three years of american idol?

Now how many of you can list 10 firefighters who died in 9/11? We have some screwed up priorities. It's sickening. These people aren't heroes. They are diluted wishful thinkers that don't want to get a real job.

Actually they are talented young people that are following a dream. Nothing wrong with that. many have carreers etc., they put on hold to get a chance. Hey, I have no problem with someone following their dreams, they can be an idol (NOT HERO) fireman or indian cheif, who cares.

Daily Horoscope for December 17

Sagittarius

It's time to assess your Christmas preparations. Have you written and posted all your cards? If not, get cracking now while you're in the mood to get them all out of the way. You'll also enjoy a quick trip around the shops to see what's on offer and tick off a few more items on that long list of yours. If you're stuck for a present for someone, maybe you could find a book that they'd like.
