This is a such a tragedy. Some people just don't think of the consequences of their actions, especially when they are young. This girl took two innocent lives and part of her adult life will be spent behind bars.

Wrong, professor. It's called manslaughter, not murder. Rapists get less years than this. The difference is criminal intent. The crime she INTENDED to commit (drunk driving) differs from the crime she DID commit (manslaughter). That's called a mitigating factor. It's not murder, you twit. Two people are dead, and the sentence is just... but call it what it is.

What a shame but 9 years is not enough. Can you imagine what those other families are going through. Those poor inoccent people were just driving along and killed-gone in an instant because of someone elses horrible decision. What about the friend who let her leave intoxicated and high?
9 years is never going to bring back those lives. I would give her 99.

This girl deserves a good lockup, but even a really long lockup will never undo what she's done. So what's the point? "To send a message?"

Trouble is, too many of these messages are being sent; too few are being received. Two months from now, this story will be all but forgotten to anyone not directly involved while the good citizens of Connecticut pay the bill for this dumb chick's incarceration. Part of her sentence should be to be paraded around to the high schools and be put on display as a really good example of a selfish decision to drink and drive.
