Full story: NewsTimes.com

Well, if the media would stop sensationalizing two otherwise isolated incidents, maybe it would stop adding to this atmosphere of fear that's been created.

The simple answer is that "most likely"..they would supply the GUN in a crime of shooting--then there is the problem of STOLEN Guns..these campuses would be the stealing ground for weapons..as well as "whoops" I lost my gun--scenarios/..the best option is CC-TV..where security of even a Local Police Dept. could operate fewer men..and have more eyes..a single person could view 5-area's of a campus..as well as having actual Manned Posts..it is very possible to have a secure campus useing trained guards..//Stopping people that harm themselves first..way before they "turn on" their fellow man..??..well that's life..the planet is way over populated..you have too expect some LESS-than satisfactory situations..consdiering population alone..it seems these campus situations have anxiety amongst the students..and instead of looking at the building blocks to a future..they retreat towards some "angle" devised by neanderthals.

A very small group of lunatic fringe protest (about 12 people statewide according to WTNH), and NT and WTNH call it news?

If we ever allowed college students to carry arms, then the NRA would demand that high school students be allowed, then middle school, then primary school, then kindergarten.

What's next? How about we give these kids bombs, gernades, how about AK 47's to protect not only themselves, but their teachers as well. We wouldn't want to see a teacher down, a teacher is worth 25 students...Remember that.

Ask any of the students while they sat playing dead, waiting to be massacred like fish in a barrel.

How would you feel that the adult, veteran, commuter student sitting next to you had a legitimate concealed firearm on his/her person, ready to defend themselves and the others in that barricaded classroom?"

Would you not pick it up to defend yourself?

Allowing CCW on campus isn't any different than the malls, state parks, restaurants, open spaces, city halls, and public squares. Everyday you pass many people exercising their 2nd Amendment right without incident. Why would a campus be different?

Are you saying legitimate firearms permit holders act differently on a college campus than anywhere else?

It is time and past time to stop making our campuses defenceless victim zones.

While I am a great proponent of the Second Amendment and concealed carry rights, I do have a problem with the logistics here. If we allow students (over 21 of course, thereby nullifying your "high school, middle school, elementary school argument, which was ridiculous) to carry firearms, who is going to ensure that there is a locked safe in their dorms to secure the weapon? The law requires that. As a college student in an area that isn't so pleasant, I would definitely want to carry, but I the law and a lack of a secure place to keep my weapon when I am not wearing it prevent me.

These guys took exactly the wrong message. Fewer guns, not more, will prevent Colombines. They want some wild west shootouts on campus?

What happened to college students getting high, protesting war and getting laid? You don't need a gun on a campus.

Isolated incidents...???? Its happening more and more in schools throughout the country..are you just getting a TV..? Do you not read the papers and watch the news..? TWO....the fear is there and it isn't going away because the kids today are stuck in some serious fantasy world,be it because of vidio games or drugs or whatever else people want to blame it on,kids are out of control.! An ideal solution would be to do away with hand guns and assualt rifles but that isn't going to happen,so where does that leave the killing problem,on everyones front door and in any workplace and any school...the problem is right up there with the drug war....it isn't going to go away any time soon.!!

Hey Strout when i was at white street u in the 80's I used to carry, I had a state permit and had to right to do so. So if you do not think it is right maybe you should consider other options. I did not run around with it out and no one knew. I have rights and took all the classes (NRA) so that had knowledge of what can happen with a weapon.

Guns dont kill people, people kill people.
if its a gun, baseball bat, fists, a wood chipper or a tire iron...its humanity
remember humans are only animal at the top of the food chain.

Guns on state or federal owned property, might not be a good idea, but to think guns are responsible for moral decline makes you sound like a treehugging lib obama bangin communist pole smoker

Daily Horoscope for December 14

Pisces

Someone is in a no nonsense mood. This makes them rather formidable company because they aren't mucking about and they don't want to waste their time. Instead, they're very single-minded about getting what they want and they won't care who gets trampled on in the process. Be careful if this person sees you as a stepping stone towards getting what they want because they could be quite ruthless in the way they treat you.
