Can anyone tell me how we get the crooked mayor out of office?

you can get petitions up, but in all reality unless he's convicted of breaking a law while in office, he's there for two more years. you can, however, put alot of pressure on the council to take the mayor's powers away from him.

you can get it to a point where that mayor can't fart without the council's permission.

Come to the 12/2/08 meeting and lets just ask him if he is a crook. Let's ask him why Newcomb hasn't been charged with any crimes. Let's just get to the bottom of this

Are you saying people with less educaton than you are stupid? The only person I have heard call anybody in this town an idiot is mayor Edwards. Mr. Edwards I hope this was not your letter. If it was then we have someone with the mentality of a fifth grader running our city. I just made my mind up, you sir have got to go.

I hope Newcomb does run for Mayor. You can't run for two elected positions at the same time, so when he announces he candidacy for Mayor, I for one will support his campaign and pledge money. Then when he resigns his council seat, and the people speak, maybe he will go away quietly in the night after he LOSES by a land slide. Why? Because people in this town are tired of his shit!

Again, I'm gonna predict this: Edwards isn't gonna resign and no lawsuit will force him out. Newcomb will run for Mayor, and we will be forced to choose between these two clowns. Which man will the voters of Greenwood see as the lesser of the two evils? That question alone will determine WHO will be the next Mayor of our little soap opera.
All of this is gonna happen, not because good men, or women will not run, but because no one will want to put up with the crap slung by either one of these other two men(Edwards or Newcomb). They both have the resources to stay in there and sling mud. All day, or in Edwards' case, all night too!
It’s not the salary that is the issue with getting good decent people to run.$40,000+ a year is a good salary for a Mayor of a city our size. But no one wants to put up with a Newcomb on your ass 24 hrs a day fighting everything that you try to do, nor does anyone want a Edwards with just enough money and twisted knowledge of the law to do the same. Hell these two would be perfect for each other... If we could all just convince them to move to California and take up the fight against Proposition #8, they may one night look into each other's eyes and magic will happen for them both!

Billy, you were close but you forgot that Campbell will run for mayor as well so that we will have another three ring circus on our hands. And speaking of Campbell, if he wins the council seat on tuesday we're going to have that circus on our hands sooner than we want it! By the way..hilarious ending to that above comment.

Newcomb is not running for mayor. His fire has grown dim and his wick is almost to the end....the fire will be out soon. Edwards is a different story...if his wick gets to short, he'll just take one from someone else...maybe not at 230 in the morning...

If anyone at City Hall needs to run for Mayor, it's our City Clerk. She seems to be the only truly honest and decent person there. Just a thought but perhaps a woman such as Wilma Cabe can finally make a difference in a town run by crooks.
