Police Investigate Shooting Near Greenwood - KFSM

An investigation is underway into a shooting that happened southeast of Greenwood this morning.

I live about 1/4 a mile from the home where this happened, the closest home around. I am disgusted that there were at least 5 police officers there at ten minutes after 8 and no one bothered to knock on my door and let me know anything. They were out looking for someone who had just SHOT someone else and my 2 toddlers were outside playing just minutes afterwards while I had absolutely no knowledge that there was anyone "on the loose". No knowledge that anything was going on at all. The man could have easily been looking for somewhere to hide out and my home was close and convenient!

Later, I called to see if they had caught the man who did the shooting because I didn't want to go home with him still roaming around, possibly on my property. Especially since I was alone with two kids there and was told that they had caught him and everything was fine. Now I learn that is not the case at all.

Very disturbing!

What is the persons name that they caught?

Was it Leon Peoples? I had heard that was the name of the person who they "thought" did it. I don't know that was who was caught or not.

This idiot shot himself... he was a felon and wasn't supposed to have a gun that is why he filed a false police report that he had been shot. This is the same guy that kidnapped his adopted mother and threatened to rape and kill her.

they didnt lie he was caught,that morning,oh and I guess you all would have the guts to do their job everyday not knowing if you would come home to your famlies at the end of the day,oh and get paid a real crappy salary and miss most holidays and birthdays.And then have to listen to peolpe spread rumors on things that the know nothing about, If your so wise,smart and brave you go voulenteer 1 day and put yourself in their shoes,and let your family worry every minute your gone and wonder if your going to come home. And your kids wonder if daddy or mommy will get taken out by the bad guy.
