We are not all supportive, but I do think that alot of people do support the head coach and his band of good ole boys and blame the kids. Its a real shame, but what do you do without making it hard for your kid. They are already dealing with enough disappointment without there own parents causing problems that could be taken out on them.

Wow you're a low life piece of shit, talking shit about a team full of kids and the coaching staff! I guess the head coach isn't doing a good job since he's actually started turning it around. I guess coaching 2 seasons of 3 and 7 and a season of 5 and 5 isn't good and considered turning it around. This year is supposed to be a building season and wasn't supposed to be a real great season (no offense to players or coaches) just wait till next year and see how the seasons gonna go. See if you're still gonna be saying shit. It's people like you that make me sick. I bet you feel real great talking shit about the coaches that are trying to help this program and turn it around. Get a life, grow the hell up and some support for these people that go out there and actually play for the community and for pride in their school.

Before you insult someone for being from the backwoods or being dumb, you should use a grammar/spell check. Now, for the more important stuff. I happen to be a graduate of NMHS and happened to play on "the worst team in history." Coach White caught a lot of crap for our team, but at one point we had 11 guys my junior year. You know who was there every practice telling us that our heart was there and we were warriors. Our coaching staff, Daran HAYS (you spelled it wrong) included. Recently I heard Daran said that my team didn't have heart, which is a total joke, because in order to regroup every week after a loss, you have to have more heart than anyone. Coach Hays taught me how to use my advantages to win wrestling matches and overcome my small size to play an adequate lineman position. He brought husky football back to former glory, and he is having an off year. Maybe cut him some slack and show some support. Teams lose, but this type of nonsense makes me sick. People said this about coach White too and how sorry they felt for us. Yeah, I would have loved to have won a few games, but I have more character now because of my coaches that I would have ever had any other way. I am proud to be a husky alum, and honestly, proud of Daran for reshaping the organization. Let's go Dawgs, and let's just see what happens this week, shall we?

Nobody has even said till next year before now. They had a 5 and 5 season last year. You're a moron, saying we haven't made it anywhere. It's a hell of an approvement from what it used to be. You gotta give it time to get straightened out after how bad it used to be, you're not gonna built it back over 1 or 2 seasons it take time. Then when it comes back you're gonna feel like a fucking idiot when it does for talking shit.

You tell em coach although if 5-5 with a team that should have won 8-9 games is returning the team to former glory then the past is not quite how we remember it

First off - Terri Sue, go back to remedial English where you belong. You obviously can't form a cohesive thought in the form of a sentence. Also, your name is "Terri Sue", which officially revokes your right to speak ill of any backwoods area, including Mannington. Go find Jethrow and go fishin’ in the cement pond. Leave the internet to adults with IQs greater than their waistline.

Secondly - Coach Hays has been there for 4 years. So, that's it? In your opinion 4 years is long enough to build a winning football program, after the previous coaches spent at least 10 tearing it apart?(don't even start defending those guys....I was there. I know.) I guess Terri Sue was one of the assholes calling for Bill Stewart to get out of WVU, despite his having roughly the same win % as Rich Rod.

TERRI SUE - Here's a FUN FACT: Coach Hays, in 4 years, has won more football games than Coach White won in his last SIX!

Lastly, Coach Hays works with/on/alongside this football program for as many hours a week as most of us work. He most likely spends as much time with some of these kids as their parents do. You, on the other hand, sit on your ass and bitch about high school kids on Topix, just like the waste of space that you undoubtedly are.

....and Coach White's record in his last 4 years?

Also "a team that should have won 8-9 games..." According to whom? You? WTF do you know? Obviously not much about capital letters or complete sentences.

Maybe not but look at the talent the last 2 years way more than white had. Is that the new measuring stick at north? We are less crappy than the last 4 years of crap.

No one was talking about Coach White. He is not the coach anymore. When he was the coach people would say the same kinds of things. This is now Coach hays team. Time for him to stand up and take responsibility. Time to grow up and quit tweeting how bad he feels after another loss or how lost he is. You don't see Coach Haddix or Coach Mileto getting on social networks and whining when they lose a game. Grow up. Be a man. Take responsibility.

Isn't that always the goal -to be better than the year(s) before? Sometimes it happens, sometimes it doesn't. Get over it.
In the case of the last coaching administration, NM went from a fairly level 75%-ish win rate through the 90's, and then sharply declined from the early 00's forward. Is that a model of great coaching? Hardly.

Perhaps we should address at least one actual issue:
- The population decline in the North Marion Area. In the 1990's there was absolutely no danger in any Marion County school becoming AA. Now, all three are. Easily. The fact that team size and overall talent has diminished in Marion County isn't a coincidence.- East and West are BOTH 2-4, and both have beat North. So....2 more wins equal a "solid" team? I don't think so. Maybe someone should be bitching about those coaches too, but since that’s not the case here, some of you are obviously West/East Fairmont Shills.

Go Ahead - Look it up. I know you’re still in High School and all.

So, WTG, can you explain to me how Tweeting that you feel bad after a loss is "Not taking responsiblity"? Seems to me that's exactly the opposite. I've got a quick remedy for your problem: Stop following him on Twitter, dumbass.

Kudos on your mention of Coaches Haddix and Mileto, though. Those guys are both having a great season... oh, wait. No they aren't.

No one said east and west are having a solid season. That is far from the truth. That is you twisting stuff in your stupid little minds. Tweeting how bad you feel and doing nothing to fix it is not taking responsibility. When you hold a position such as this in the community, it is time to grow up and stop with the social network crap. Honestly, all 3 teams should be performing better as AA teams because is is a much more even playing field. None of these schools with 6-700 kids are being put up against schools with 1500 kids. The bigger schools can pick the cream of the crop from a larger group. And they don't have kids playing both sides if the ball.

Well, WTG, clearly Coach Hays has missed an opportunity not having you on his coaching staff, since you obviously have all the answers.

First, may I ask what you would like Coach Hays to do as far as "taking responsibility"? I don't see him blaming anyone else for poor performance. Maybe he should hold a press conference and personally apologize to you, since you seem to be the only one here who is offended by his "social network crap".

Secondly, May I ask how, exactly, you know that he's "doing nothing to fix it"? Seems to me that if they're putting in the hours at practice, they're doing at least something to fix it, right? What else would you suggest be done?(That's totally rhetorical, I really couldn't care less what you think...)

Also - who doesn't use social media? It's 2012. Again, you can remedy this problem with a simple click of the "unfollow" button.

So far, the only sensible thing that you've uttered is "all 3 teams should be performing better as AA teams...". Aside from that, everything you've said is personal, meaningless drivel.

Excuse me. Obviously I missed how things are getting better as the season progresses. They must be changing a whole bunch.

Never said I wanted to coach. I will admit I would never want the headache and politics that inevitably come along with it.

I am apparently not alone. Just search the word football on this mannington board. There is at least one topic about his coaching skills every year. That's what happens when you are a coach. Some people love you, some people hate you. It comes with the territory. People talk. Just have to learn to get on with it.

56-0 @ halftime. Has that ever happened to even the worst of North Marion teams? It was like watching a Jv team play a varsity team. I have only missed 3 games at Husky Field since it opened and can truly say that I probably wont be back I know several other long time supporters have already stopped going. It seems that we spend more time working on our pre-game warm-ups than we do for the opponent for the week. Its just sad to see the shambles that a once proud program has become.

First of all I do not see a line waiting to sign up to coach these young players be it football, wrestling, soccer, baseball, cheerleading or any other sport. Coach Hays stepped up and accepted the job. If any of you think you can do a better job than go for it. He is teaching these boys the fundamentals of the game, good sportsmanship and that winning isn't everything.
Second of all, the comment was made that "obviously I missed how things are getting better as the season progresses"...this doesn't mean the team is winning. It means the players are learning from their mistakes and are improving in their position.
As for the comment about the local McDonald's patting him on the back and telling him good job. You are probably right they are doing this because North Marion has a strong backing, win or lose, and we stick together as a family. And a family sticks together no matter what. So yes we are proud of Coach Hays and the players.
When Coach Michael led the Huskies to several state champions and then starting losing I didn't hear people saying "get him out of there". The kids have to have talent and some of those kids don't have it but they are still out there giving it there all every Friday night. As for Coach White, I never heard "get him out of there" and during his coaching years the Huskies were hardly scoring.
I remember during the 80's North had a varsity team, JV team and freshman team. And at some point there were boys standing along the sidelines because we didn't have enough uniforms for them. Count the kids out there now. The count is nothing like it was once wore.
Winning isn't everything and a coach should not be removed just because he has a losing season or two. If any of you think you can make these kids win then sign up to become the coach or one of the assistant coaches. But remember coaching is not just Friday night from 7-10. Coaching is a full time job and demands alot of time away from your family and I mean year around not just during football season. By the way Coach Hays has a full time teaching job and a family too. He is one dedicated coach and we are all proud of him.
As for him tweeting or being on social medias, he is not putting down the kids on these networks. He is expressing his feelings. Of course he is upset when he loses as well as the kids are too. He is the one taking full responsibilty. My thoughts on this if you don't like what he has to say then why are following him.
"SOME" parents are never happy with any coaches. And "SOME" parents think winning is everything. Coaching should start at home.
"oh thats right he is from Mannington" ...really Terri Sue? Funny how you didn't indicate where you are from. There is nothing wrong with anyone from Mannington or any other town. Hard to believe that you are one of God's assistant and are able to sit in judgment of others. In my world there is only one judge and thats our good Lord. NOT YOU!!!!!!
Not sure if others are aware of this but North Marion lost 16 senior players last year. That is a HUGE part of his team so yes he is rebuilding the program.
If you don't like watching a losing team then stay home but don't come on here bitching and complaining about the Coaches.
Team coaches must have the skills to impart strategy and plan to a team who will act on the winning plan submitted. The great flaw however is, without the “top of the class players” to work a top plan, no coach is ever going to be successful. Whether top plan, lesser players or top players, lesser plan, both will always bring poor results.
Still proud of the Huskies and will stand behind the coaching staff...
