good, she should be charged. her lying behind tied up law enforcement and other services that could have been used on real cases. she won't get much if any punishment but I bet she won't do this again.

She should have to at least do community service.
She caused the state a lot of wasted time & resources.

I hope that Randy learned from this that the next time an incident happens with a family member of his staff, to publicly state something like: "Investigating this incident is inappropriate for my department because of the potential appearance of a conflict of interest. I've asked SLED to investigate and determine what, if any, charges are appropriate and to file said charges."

That would be the end of any controversy about Randy playing favorites with-in his department. He's taking heat over the way he has handled the Hillard case, but frankly, if this is the WORST mistake he makes while in office, we (the citizens of Clarendon County) will have an outstanding sheriff.

Ms Hillard was booked and processed at the county jail yesterday. Her crimes are misdemeanors, and I've said it before and I will repeat myself here: She should do at least 80 hours of community service at DSN or the Council on Aging. This would get her away from her peers and expose her to a world of vulnerable adults most people her age do not know exist.

That would be far better than serving jail time on the week-ends for two or three week-ends, which, with probation, is probably the most she would be sentenced. H3ll, she might even become a better person as a result of that, but I won't hold my breath.

She did more damage to the Amber Alert System and endangered missing children than she will ever realize.

Yes. She did. And SLED only charged her with the equivalent of filing a false police report. Heck, I think the potential fine is GREATER for filing a false police report.

Children and vulnerable adults are our most fragile assets in our communities. That's why I want her to do community service at DSN or the COA instead of week-end jail time. Let's expose her to a world she probably knows little or nothing about and let her meet some people less fortunate than her who may have to utilize the Amber Alert system if they wander away from their caretakers or homes to to dementia or some mental handicapped.

The world is currently hooked on the word "Extreme". I'm sure she's gotten by now the more common examples of the use of the Amber Alert system,(Missing and endangered kids, parental abductions, etc.) Let's show her the other end of the spectrum and show her the "extremely" disabled, aged, and handicapped adults, some of which are in HER age group that also depends upon this system sometimes. That may be an eye opener.
