The article that is written by Mark Obbie a professor a Syracuse University is "focused" on Esther Rufo. As a journalist Mr. Obbie, you should have done more research on your subject and be more objective and interviewed others within the community of the overall situation. I'm sure Mrs. Rufo did not divulge to you that she is mentally unstable, or that she herself had mentally abused her own children for years. Do you think that maybe she is looking for redemption for all the pain she herself had contributed to these circumstances? Many years ago, Oprah had on her television show a gentleman named Gavin De Becker, this gentleman talked about his past history and how he was abused; however, he made a choices to make a difference in his life. He himself made a "choice" to be a better person; to be a contributing member of society. Timothy Ginocchetti made a "choice" to lie in wait for his mother to come home; Timothy made a "choice" to instigate an altercation with her, to "stab" her repeatedly; over and over and over again. Timothy himself made a "choice" to commit this crime, Timothy made a choice to "take a life", Timothy made a "choice" to ruin his own life and of those around him. Many things happen in our own individual lives on a daily basis, how we as individuals "choose" to act is our own responsibility and should not be the responsibility anyone else. Let's all start taking responsibility for our own actions. Mr. Obbie, I question why you would par-take in this article and only write from one perspective; other than to make a name for yourself and money off of the pain of the individuals that were affected by this monstrous act. I will end with this quote by Andy Rand: "Man is being with free will;therefore, each man is potentially good or evil, and it's up to him and only him (through his reasoning mind) to decide which he wants to be." Again Timothy made his choice and his "choice" was not for "good".

I can appreciate the fact that the above person thinks they have details of the families history. What is really important here? Isn't it life itself. We are all human beings that are capable of terrible and wonderful things. I would like to join Oprah in her celebration of supporting our families through hard times. Taking a life would have to be one of the hardest mistakes to live with. I hear all the Christians that want to judge, but my God forgives and shows compassion. If you are so knowledgeable about this family, then as a Christian you need to extend you love and forgiven to a very difficult situation for this family. I call you out to be the example the world needs in extending yourself not placing blame. Bless you.

It's all about forgiveness. God forgives all except blasphemy against the Holy Spirit. When we die we each stand before God and His judgment. Esther had to do one of the hardest things I'm sure a mother ever has to do, forgive her grandson for killing her daughter. How did she find it in her heart to do that? Only she knows. That is a heart filled with the love of Jesus. As for the rest of the family. I hope one day they will forgive Tim for their own sakes, and their own healing. It's such a sad situation. We cannot judge, for we do not walk in their shoes. I pray for the whole family in their pain and suffering.
