I respect that you pay your bills and work hard and pay more in property taxes. So do I. But, because you and I may use fewer government services, we cannot escape the fact that many of our neigbors, family, friends, colleagues, and others may need them. You and I probably rely a lot more on government services than we realize because much of what government does is out of our sight. It seems to me that asking the 5% of us who are better off to pay a little more while also imposing some hard cuts is a reasonable compromis. You make some fair points but there are a couple of mischaracterizations. Cutting salaries of elected officials does virtually nothing to address the $6.2 billion deficit staring at Minnesotans. Most people on public assistance have never seen the inside of a casino.
I think you would be very shocked by how many welfare recipients are at the casino.
