Gary, What a sad statement. Your comments appear to be emotionally charged and have little to do with fact. I didn't see the evidence and I doubt you did either. But the grand jury did and ruled the way they seen it.

Its sad that the 24year old got shot over defending himself. He DIDNT know it was a cop otherwise he wouldnt of fought with him. when the cop revealed his badge tyler threw his hands up and got shot, is that justice enough for you? SO SAD! the cop got off clean for the simple fact he is a cop, when the 24yr olds son askes where his dad is what would we say? he was murdered after he surrendered...

the fact that his fellow cops would work with this sorry excuse for a man is very troubling, officer Waldren failed the test in so many ways, and by giving him a pass, law enforcement takes a big hit.

Anyone know how a man in a open space with only a swimming suit on
could or would be of any harm to a law officer ? All that was needed
was he let him go, And call in the US Marines, If the law officer figured
he had found "Bin Laden' in Kasota. Then call a helicopter with a HellCat
Missile to blow up the town.
One Le Sueur County Deputy told me if he shot everone in his 25 years of
duty that run or fought with him, He would have at least 100 men killed
by now. But never ever shot a man, of such a silly thing as this.

Or better yet, Call in a helicopter and have them shoot a Hellcat Missile

A Le Sueur County Deputy told me if in his 25 years of service, He shot
everyone that run or fought with him, He would have over 100 men shot
by now, He said most of officers lack proper training.

This was obviously a difficult situation. Yes, I was a juror on this case. Yes, it could have been handled differently. Yes, it is tragic that Tyler died! And after hearing everything that happened that day, the evidence and ALL the witnesses... Yes, I would have still voted NO to a criminal trial! My prayers are regularly included Tyler's family :'(

I work in Corrections and have dual degrees. This case disgusted me as I knew the officer as well as the victim. I've had self defense training, control tactics training and I have my conceal & carry permit. At no time in our training does it say we can shoot someone "just because" -- they have to pose an imminent danger to us or others meaning they have to have the means to cause great bodily harm or death to us. I don't see where that came into play here. Where was the imminent danger? A young adult in swimming trunks was considered imminent danger to a seasoned law enforcement officer?? Was he backed into a corner and less than 10 feet away??? The officer did not need to shoot and chose excessive force to stop the perceived threat. I don't feel safe living in a county that continues to employ such an officer. That is not something I would support donations to the local Sheriff's Youth Group for while the County continued supporting such a disgrace for the field of corrections and right to bare arms for others who abide by the law.
