Yeh we did! Just wish it would not have been negetive press "again". How are we going to pay this debt down? Fixed income people in Junction are going to be in trouble. Are there really checks written by the city with no back up documentation?($63, 000.00) If I wriet a check in business I am required to show what it was for and get a receipt.....Do the folks handling our money not do that? This is not an accusation but a question? A person stood up in the meeting last night and made that accusation and there was no answer made by Mr. Barnes. I think the Forensic Audit Report should be made a public document. I do not know who knew what when and do not feel qualified to ask for anyone's head. It is like the movie "All The Presidents Men". Once there is proof of what really happened and the audit will go along way in making that determination then we can talk about the future of the folks on the commission. My question to any commissioner is exactly what is our actual debt? Is there a plan to get us out of it? How much more debt is coming that we are not aware of? Lastly I believe that there ought to be a Junction City financial website tghat a citizen could go to and see what is being spent by whom and where our tax dollars are going. The new word for our city government needs to be transparancy. If we begin here maybe our grandkids won't have to eat as much debt.

Not someone who spoke at the meeting. LOL Just someone who has lived here for over 40 years both on Ft. Riley and as a home owner here in town.

Bill; If Mr. Barnes is "dirty" the forensic Audit as well as the FBI Investigation, I would hope, will open that box. I think, my opinion with no facts to back it up, is that all the City Management folks are under a FBI/KBI microscope at this time. These agencies are just not telling us anything until they make their indictments. Again that is only my opinion not based upon any real facts.

Jail or Fire the mayor and all the city commissioners. If you have rentals try to rent them now. Better yet try to sell them.

Theres a problem with this kind of speculation. Well at least you admitted that your just guessing, unlike some other people who are recklessly posting on this site.

I agree. I also think it is a big waste of money to have an audit. The law will do this for free without outside manipulation. I am not guessing when I say it looks bad for these commissioners. I think time will tell the truth and some may do some time and others may pay some fines. I don't think it will be just city government folks either.

Here's the facts-the city debt went from 15 million to 200 million. The amount we pay in property taxes has almost tripled in four years! And a former city commissioner has been accused of accepting bribes to help a developer. Homes in newer parts of town are falling apart before ever being occupied. And yet we keep hearing about what a great job the three stooges (Wunder, Heldstab, Rhodes) have done. Tell me, what are their major accomplishments?

Bill That about says it all yet most people around hear dont get it. Most of the debt payment wont even start showing up on the for for another two years. Junction City has not even started to feel the full effect of what they have done and I have no idea how JC can come out of this. I use to hear that the state would have to help well the state is in enough trouble that that option is out.

Fact is Junction City Commissioners and Rod Barnes are no different than the banks who have over extended themselves --- now blame it on someone else -- and refuse to take responsibility themselves. Meanwhile we all set back guzzle beer in front of the tv and do not do a damn thing about it. Face it democracy is dead. We all set back and say what is the government going to do to fix this -- hell they created it. Quit posting on this site and go to a city commission and demand and end to this.

The fact is, the banks are no excuse for city government to take a cavalier attitude towards the taxpayers money and spent like there is no tomorrow; or at least no tomorrow that they will have to answer for. The truth will eventually come out, one commissioner is alleged to have taken a bribe for his vote, well one commissioner alone could not approve anything, so there must have been some influence peddling going on, or else that commissioner had some sort of leverage against the others to get them to vote his way. Or maybe the commission saw pie in the sky and just did not care what the cost. As everyone probably well knows, the government is not going to fix anything, if you want it to be fixed you got do it yourself, you have to stand up and be counted and not wait for others to step up first. There have been plenty of people in this town that have tried to shed light on what was going on. It takes a person with integrity and backbone to admit to the mistakes that were made, and do the right thing. No one knows at this time what the extend of damage will be, it will only come out when it is time to pay the piper. Regrets will not solve this issue, only action on the part of responsible, knowledgable people will help this city.

What, he has a boyfriend, I thought he was married with 2 kids. I know the city has a nepotism policy, if this is his boyfriend, he can't work for the city! They would tell someone else real quick, you have to quit or be fired if you are dating, living or you happen to get married to someone that works for the city.
