MANHATTAN — Three 17-year-olds were arrested on two counts of residential burglary and one count of attempted burglary Saturday.

Anthony R. Bowers, of 25200 S. Faraday Road; Brandon J. Madsen, of 15562 W. Eamon Court, and Cody R. Fitzpatrick, of 15602 W. Waterford Lane, were booked into the county jail following a weeklong investigation.

Police Chief Howard Martin said the three suspects broke into two houses and attempted to enter another on Sept. 16 in the Foxford subdivision.

“They took mostly electronics and were identified when they pawned one of the items,” Martin said.

Great job by the MPD! These kids and their parents are responsible. These kids deserve some real jail time for their actions.

Now watch for the cover up, Brandon Madsen's father sits on the New Lenox town board. Who wants to take bets he will walk with a slap on the wrist, if that. I bet he even gets it moved to a juvi instead of adult. His brother is a herowin junkie.

Worst part of that is that he's the ring leader of this whole thing. Madsen was out breaking into garages before he meet up with the other 2. Bowers is a good kid that got mixed up with the wrong people & now has a serious drug problem, to the point he's lucky to be alive. He comes from a good family, mom & dad both work. They were in the process if getting him into rehab. He's never been in trouble before this. That night he was on Klonopin, alcohol, & marijuana, all at the same time. Which the other mom was okay with them doing at her house as long as there was no bong involved.

I am really glad that they put the names in the paper and treated them as adults. A 17 year old is old enough to be responsible for his actions. I sure hope they don't get the case knocked down to juvenile court. I sure don't want them around the neighborhood.

I can bet none of you even remotely know these boys nor know their situations at home. To whoever has the audacity to Jeff Madsen a herion junkie needs to get what they deserve. Like I said, none of you know what any of these boys are going through. Yes they made a bad decision, but I'm sure you all did at one point in time as well.. But you seem to forget about that because it was back in the day, right?

You are so full of it. This whole town knows of Jeff's problems with drugs. That aside, what do you mean nobody knows what these kids are going thru, it's a small town sure we do. Mom and dad are divorced....so what! Mine are as well. I didn't turn to drugs and burglary. A mistake is stealing a single object from the store. Breaking into the houses, doing drugs, stealing cars, that's a criminal career.

No one said Jeff Madsen was a junkie. Go re-read the post. Seventeen year old's are responsible for the decisions they make in life as well as the consequences. You will be too kid. Don't even try to make these kids look like choir boys. This is not the first brush with the law for a few of them. I hope they are sentenced to the maximum.

I made a few bad decisions when I was a kid but nothing of this magnitude or ones that would get me prison time. I was not raised that way.

Topix is for adults. Go play on Facebook where the kids are or do your homework.

Who you trying to kid, the entire town knows Jeff and Brandon are the towns weed suppliers. They both have been selling for many years. Jeff hasn't been in town for a while now, but when he was he was dealing out of the house next door to the major. Jeff graduated to heroin a little over a year ago.

I hope you have given this information to the detectives. If the parents are allowing this, they need to be held accountable. These are still 17 year old kids, and although I don't disagree with charging them as adults; they should be put into a detox/ rehab program, counseling and serve minimal time wih maximum community service. I have no doubt that with the right help, they can turn their lives around. I hope they realize that this may be their last chance to straighten up.
