We are relocating to the area, so I took your advice. I drove around the subdivision and asked quite a few homeowners what they thought of the builder. I must not have seen you because I got nothing but positive feedback. One guy even let me come into his house and showed me some really cool options that he had. Glad I took your advice and that I didn't run into you. Do you even live in the subdivision?
People will never tell the truth about any builder. why? If they told how bad a builder is the property values would decline if word got out that the homes were poor.

Thanks, for your comment but we went back and we went through the models and looked at the basements along with the structure and we are very pleased with what we saw, so we are moving forward with McDonnell Development. We even looked at builders in other subdivisions and we were not pleased with the others. We did look through the neighborhood to see if anyone had their homes for sale and they didn't so, since we can't buy a used home in this subdivision we will be building within the next year.

We even took it a step further and went to previous subdivisions that were built by McDonnell and the homeowners had nothing but positive things to say about the builder. We have done our research. My wife and I will be very happy in WhiteFeather

It's sad that people feel the need to try to ruin the reputation of such a highly praised builder.

Glad you like them. I know for a fact that the home is phase 2 on the biggest lot is for sale. I saw the owner last week and he said he is selling it. I guess he just went through a divorce and wants to move. I dont think it is listed but you might want to check it out. If not you will really like it here.

My wife and I are interested in buying in white feather. We were curious to what current homeowners think about the neighborhood and the builder.

It is pretty nice in there. Stay away from Leighlinbridge and Centex. There are plenty of foreclosed homes in the village too. You can get them for a great price. Be prepared to pay high homeowner taxes and not get anything in return if you move to Manhattan. Good luck!

I wouldnt move to one of those neighborhoods because of the covenants and restrictions. If I own my home, I dont want the neighborhood association to make decisions for me. Buy where you have a little freedom.

We are also looking in the area, We have a dog and a camper. As for the comment on restrictions, does anyone know if there would be a problem putting up a fence and also parking a camper in driveway? I went through a model in New Lenox and they told me I can only put up a pvc fence $$$$$. and i cannot park camper in driveway. I guess I could just call and ask ,but I saw this post.

No wood fences or chain link fences are allowed. You can have a camper or boat in your driveway for no more than 3 days at a time otherwise its an eyesore.

I wish the whole town had that restriction on campers and boats.

Fences have to be pvc, chain link or aluminum-no wood. No dog runs. Campers and boats are ok in spring and summer as far as I know.

THATS MY POINT, IF I ENJOY CAMPING AND HAVE A CAMPER, I DONT WANT TO BE JUDGED AS A HILLBILLY AND THEN LET THEM DECIDE FOR ME WHAT I CAN HAVE AT MY HOUSE. I AVOID THOSE NEIGHBORHOODS WITH COVENANTS AND RESTRICTIONS, PLUS THEY CHARGE AN ANNUAL FEE TO JUDGE ME AND BOSS ME AROUND. ILL JUST KEEP MY ANNUAL FEE AND USE IT TO BUY MARSHMALLOWS AND GRAHAM CRACKERS AND ENJOY A CAMPFIRE IN MY BACK YARD, WILL THEY ALLOW YOU TO DO THAT THERE? OR DOES IT HAVE TO BE A PRETEND FIRE WITH PRETEND LOGS? WITH SUGAR FREE MARSHMALLOWS? HEY PHIL, DID YOU GET PERMISSION FROM THE ASSOCIATION TO WRITE COMMENTS ON HERE?

Keep in mind,Borgo is your mayor in Manhattan and he is taxing our town like crazy. likes raise's for his administion, and keep useless people on the payroll like our so called building inspector. ''BEWARE OF BORGO AS MAYOR''. not good for Manhattan.

I don't live in White Feather but it looks nice. Only thing about Manhattan is the sky high taxes. Otherwise, it is a pretty nice town. Been here 10 years and my main gripe is the the lack of programs for teenagers through the park district.

we like WF and chose it over leighlinbridge and centex for obvious reasons. the builder is small family owned not commercial like some others. Ask the builder about the campers. A few neighbors have them for a few weeks at a time but in reality, there isn't usually much space for that if you want to use your driveway. Fences are fine chain link not ok but someone got away with a black chain link which in most of our eyes is just as bad.
