I don't understand why everyone is complaining so much and trying to change everything. This town was obviously good enough for you to move here. So what has changed since your move. I would really like to hear some responses.

I wish I could burn my leaves. And I can't carry my beer down the street anymore. What is this world coming to?

I moved here over 5 yrs ago. I know I moved to a small town. I like small towns. I smile at people and they smile back. If you walk around angry and snobbishly (is that a word?) Maybe some people won't be so kind to you back. I don't see a reason to change the pace of Manhattan but with so many new residents, we of course need to think about expanding to accommodate. I agree, sometimes it would be nice to have a Walgreen's in town and open 24 hours if your kid gets sick at 2 am, but we knew what was here when we moved it. If I moved to Chicago, I wouldn't complain when they didn't slow down for me. Ya gotta love small town America. If not, you shouldn't have moved here. But you did, maybe it was for the affordable housing like me, so, how about you make the best of it. Nobody is keeping you here.
I like Berkots, and the BP station, and the fire works, the Library, the park, the people who work at the Park District and the city hall. I like the police that I have met. I love the Ace Hardware. So what if I have to drive 20 min to get a Big Mac. I knew that when I moved here.
I'm not asking anybody to leave, just try to remember why you moved here in the first place. It's a nice town. Oh yeah, the taxes suck.

Better watch what you are being sarcastic about. Your freedoms are being dwindled away by these pesky little policies to get you conditioned for the bigger ones.

SOME people promised them Naperville. Now their pissed off they don't have it, can't sell their houses because they bought bigger homes with less money and more taxes. No equity, and their stuck with us conservative working class. That bothers the eletists, because they thought they were going to kick us all out of here with their crazy policies.

Ever since I have been reading these posts, I start to remember how I saw the town when I moved here. Then, slowly I started to want it to start the transformation into the next Orland. I start to look down on our little town. But these post remind me that we live in a nice, clean, safe town. Not perfect by any means. I decided that I want to be a better Manhattanite. I will try to be more friendly. I will try to remember that I liked this town when I moved here. I Don't even like Orland. I hate driving in Orland. At least when you have to take that long drive to New Lenox, at least there isn't any traffic. I'll take a 10 mile drive with no traffic over 10 minutes to go three blocks in Orland in December. I'm not going to whine about cops hanging out at the BP. I bet it doesn't get robbed to often. Basically, we live in a nice town, enjoy it. Enjoy your kids going to schools with out guns and gangs. Enjoy that little skinny guy at Berkot's who knows where everything is. I enjoyed not having my pumpkins smashed this past Halloween.
Have you ever been to our library? Could the staff be any nicer?? Just enjoy Manhattan. I know I will.

Daily Horoscope for December 2

Sagittarius

Your relationship with your partner comes into focus with the Gemini Full Moon; it's good to devote time to your best friend or mate under this fortunate phase. Try to be understanding of the pressure your loved ones may be under, but today is pretty fortunate for the Archer, as Jupiter your life-ruler is favored. Celebrate the love you have in your life, no matter what form it may take.
