Advantages of living in Manhattan

Im pretty new to this town. I've been reading thru Manhattan topix snd it seems like so many people have nothing but negative things to say. So far, I love it here.

Topix has become somewhat of a complaint department for some. Not much recently on here should reflect Manhattan as a whole.

This is a great town with fantastic people.

They are lifelong Manhattanites. They don't like it when life goes on and inevitable change happens. They want thing to stay the way they are, and live in denial of one of life's great truths: You either change on your own terms, or you change on someone else's terms. Like the residents of countless other farm towns across the country, many of them will not contribute to constructive dialog and planning, but instead cocoon themselves and ostracize any and all new-comers, and thus chart a course that will ensure that their town will turn into either an overcrowded, poorly planned, sprawling suburb with no character, or Schaumburg Part 2. Many of them will find themselves strangers in the "new" Manhattan, and will find themselves "new-comers" in other small towns, and if there's any karma, they'll be treated as poorly as they treat people who are new to Manhattan.

... I hasten to add that many new-comers were the "WAMOs" of the towns they came from, who had to flee because they fell into the same trap and watched their towns fall into sprawl, crime, or both. So the WAMOs better learn to work with the new-comers before they find themselves totally out-numbered and out-voted.
