This place is run by husband, wife, and their kids. If you have workers comp or other great insurance, you will be there forever- more like a nursing home. Unethical family
I believe you have incorrect information. You can look at the website www.nrlcenters.com for additional information. The facility is run by a Dr. Robert Voogt, CEO, our Medical Director Dr. Howard Katz and a team of professionals which include 2 full time Speech Therapist, 2 full time Occupational Therapist, a Physical Therapist, 2 full time Certified Case Managers, a Nutritionist, 10 Certified Brain Injury Specialist and numerous staff members. Our Director of Professional Services currently sits on the state Board of Examiners for Vocational Rehabilitation Counselors.

NRLCL has a behavioral program, an apartment program and individuals with full time jobs in the community who are living in their own apartments. Insurance companies, Workman's compensation included, do not pay for brain injury rehabilitation forever. They pay for rehabilitation and a transfer to a long term setting if needed. Due to the complexity of brain injury deficits, some individuals will never be able to live independently and may require assistance forever. However, facilities main goals are always discharging individuals to home and a supportive environment. Sadly, that future does not always exist because of complex family situations and the inability of families to provide support to their loved one.

On November 4,2015 at 7:24A.M. my life would take a drastic change. While crossing a busy intersection in my home town an 18-wheeler hauling Automobiles ran a red light and totaled my 2005 F150. After speaking with my attorney, he scheduled me to see a neurological psychologist who quickly diagnosed me with a Traumatic Brain Injury as well as PBA Pseudo Bulbar Affect, a condition that causes excessive emotional outburst. I was fortunate as to being aware of the abnormalities I was experiencing whereas most patients are in denial and feel as there is nothing wrong with them. My attorney called NRLC and spoke with Christin Moses and set up an appointment for me to be evaluated. Upon arrival at my home Mrs. Linda Gutierrez quickly accessed that I was in fact dealing with a Traumatic Brain Injury and took the time to help me understand there was nothing I could do to prevent the emotional outburst and that it would take time for the Brain to compensate for the damage and it was possible I would improve. After a lengthy evaluation and being informed of The Neurological Rehabilitation Living Center and its program my wife and I made one of the best decisions of our marriage and I became a patient in the facility in Covington.
Being a Spiritual Individual I quickly realized this is where GOD intended for me to be. From the moment, Frank met me at the gate I knew this was going to be a positive step toward a better me. You see you must realize it may not be possible for you to be the person you were but you can become a better you. I felt an instant connection with Mary Broussard the Occupational Therapist and it was very apparent she would do everything within her powers to help me learn what my weaknesses were and help me find out how to correct or overcome them. The secret is acknowledging your injury and determining that you will do anything and everything to overcome your disabilities. The staff within NRLC is nothing less than your new family. The clients are exceptional and they will help you in more ways than you can imagine. You will find they do become your new family and they have so much to offer you on your road to becoming the new person you are. If you will listen, cooperate, and participate in the daily activities and classes you will find each class will help in developing a better you. I needed speech Therapy and to work on cognitive repairs so I was fortunate to work with Keri and Stacy and they are so dedicated to the clients. Conflict Resolution was one of the skills I needed to focus on and the Staff witin NRLC helped me tackle these skills head on and I am a better person for it.
Community outings, bowling, movies, shopping and eating out are just a few of the privileges you have and the more you participate the more you will be able to do. Karen, the Nurse, is dedicated to helping you become a healthier person and to become more aware of the steps you need to follow to keep yourself on a healthy regime. She works diligently in preparing you to be able to meet all your goals in becoming a better healthier person.
The entire staff at NRLC dedicates their time and knowledge to help you become independent and self-reliant. IF you dedicate your time and determination NRLC can help you be the best person you can be and sometimes that is better than you were. Do yourself a favor and become a part of the NRLC Family With total dedication and a commitment to be the best you can be there is nothing stopping you..
