The Battenkill Inn

I was sorry to learn that the Battenkill Inn in Arlington, Vermont has closed. My wife Barara and I spent a delightful winter vacation there a few years ago and we would be interested in finding out why the inn is no longer open. Are there any local news articles that would cover this?

I came across this post today. We closed the Battenkill Inn because we were unable to recover from the damage from Hurricane Irene. Although the building itself survived, the damage was extensive. We gambled our life's savings to get repaired and back up and running by Foliage season in hopes we could recover, but the lack of tourism from all the negative press (thank you weather channel!) and all the cancelations that fall and at Christmas just did us in. We tried to sell it, but the bank wouldnt lend $ to others to buy it since Tourism had declined so much. so in 2012-13 we renovated the Inn into a lovely Triplex, and we still live one unit.
Though we do not plan on returning it to an Inn, the triplex conversion was done in a way that would allow it to be reconverted back to an Inn if anyone ever wanted to do so. I'm glad you had fond memories of our Inn. We do too! Especially all of the wonderful guests we hosted.
Best wishes to you Rich and Barbara, and all our other old guests!
