some might also be advertisement. I was looking on line for a pow wow close to home a few months ago. And didn't see any listed. Is there some sorta email list or a certin site to go to, to find out where and when they are held? If anyone knows let me know. Flyers around town would be nice too. Something that could be posted in a store window. Anything.

I stopped by the festivities at the lake, and I must say the place was empty. There was also a man singing (well doing the best he could???), and it was very depressing. Years ago, Labor Day festivities at the lake used to be packed; there was a "Miss Boys Club" contest, all kinds of food, etc.; but with the city being taken over by crime and so much discrimination, all those living outside the general area no longer want to be a part of this mess.
The saddest part of this whole mess is that most of those that are taking over the city are not paying taxes; those that do pay taxes are being driven out.

Sorry that attendance was down . maybe press was little lackin But Can't blame them they work for profit tooo. Pay Ads Or free add's Cost Money. I also think that no one really cares about our local or Native Heritage. How many people visit The Downtown Area Plough Tavern the hotel or others places of interest any more. Some of my Family was in Vermount, New hamshire Area & Had a Great time visting the old Towne& learning of the Area . I didn't Know that the UnderGround Tunnel/ Railway went that Far North durin/After the Civil War .And the mountian Areas there where devasted of woodland for Potash & Timber to be sent back to England & other Countries. I heard Indian Steps is having a Native outing later this month. Hope all Goes better there . We need to Show support for OUR For fathers for WHAT They Fought for and The Natives.

I will be honest I was worried about the crime that's why we didn't go and will never attend another city event again. It is not worth risking my kids and my life. There are plenty of safer events outside the city.

I heard people stayed away because someone saw a person waving an axe and another one saw a guy with a knife.

Next year they need to hold the pow wow at Small Field with adequate security.

Maybe attendance was down because of the blatent phoniness that is carried on at alot of these hokey powwows??? There are very few and I mean VERY few real powwows in this area anymore. These people that were at Kiwanis many of them are registered with a legitimate tribe??? It is sad that the Native people still get disrespected by the White man....that is exactly what I saw jumping around the circle last year. That is exactly why I wait patiently for those done in Washington, DC by the museum or a few others that spot the East Coast.

Attendance was down because this event is corny to say the least. Most of the people there look like poor white trash dressed up as Indians for Halloween. Really, YDR? I would love to know who thought last week's event had anything to do with this event's poor attendance or was it just a way to incite the ignorant racist readers once again?!?!

Maybe the people didn't attend for a very good reason. Maybe they want to see the REAL THING, not some phony thing like last year. Wake-up people you're not a NATIVE AMERICAN INDIAN so STOP trying to be something you're not. Anyone can put on a outfit or dress but that doesn't mean you're a INDIAN. H E L L O SO I'LL SAY IT AGAIN PLEASE STOP TRYING TO BE SOMETHING YOU'RE NOT...

I have been to Native American festivals, pow-wows and feasts all over and I am happy this event will not be held any longer. I am an educator and I frown upon events such as this. I was not able to attend this year, but was present last year. It is time for the PA Attorney General to get involved and investigate these organizations that say they collect money for under privileged Native Americans. I saw not one flyer or any information on this All Nations Youth Camp. So where are their donations going? Iíve made several phone calls to fellow educators and colleagues out West and they have not heard of this camp either. I do not mind giving to worthy organizations and foundations, but I do not like it when people take advantage of oneís culture to benefit them.

Thank you Dr. Stevens....well said! I too questioned the woman at the table taking the $$$$. She could NOT answer my questions. Mr Scheeler that is in the above photo starting spewing off comments and I asked for the address of the camp. He rattled off a persons name and said "everyone out west knows him". BIG DEAL!!!!! If you are legit you would have available information for people to donate to year round...not just through your greedy paws!

To clarify, my above questioning happened at LAST year's event. Not this year's.
