Are you willing to pay higher taxes,so that the City crime rate goes down ,due to added police protection?
The city would have the money for the extra police and other projects if the city council would stop giving tax breaks out to all of their buddies for their projects.

Part of the problem is that the city's tax base keeps going down. Properties are being bought by "non profit" organizations who then don't have to pay taxes. What is even worse, I saw the city is giving the library $200,000 and $800,000 is going to be spent to renovate 4, houses???? That looks like $200,000 for each house.(The city is only giving some of that $800,000) For $800,000 you should be able to renovate an entire block but more importantly, that money would go a long way to help protect the people who have to live there, but then again, the city doesn't have a problem, right.

Hey Scotland62 it isn't that more non profits organizations are moving downtown it is city council giving 10 year tax exempt status to every property one of their buddies wants to do a project at. If they would stop doing that they would have plenty of money coming in.

The people that go to the stadium pay for their tickets.
Is York safe HELL no just take a look at the numbers when you put it in to compare to the surrounding areas.
This is just the murder numbers compared between York, Lancaster and Harrisburg.
York 11
Harrisburg 9
Lancaster 3
Robbery and aggravated assault compared to Carroll Township, Fairview Township, Northern Regional, Penn Township, Southern Regional, West York, York, York area Regional, Springettsbury Township and Spring Garden Township.
Carroll Township 0 robberies, 1 aggravated assault
Fairview Township 4 robberies, 15 aggravated assaults
Northern Regional 23 robberies, 40 aggravated assaults
Penn Township 7 robberies, 13 aggravated assaults
Southern Regional 4 robberies, 2 aggravated assaults
West York 9 robberies, 7 aggravated assaults
York 322 robberies, 113 aggravated assaults
York Area Regional 17 robberies, 76 aggravated assaults
Springettsbury 32 robberies, 15 aggravated assaults
Spring Garden Township 10 robberies, 14 aggravated assaults
And let's not overlook the fact that a majority of the crimes being committed in the townships that border the city are being are by city dwellers.

Yes I agree with you there. That is why I didn't include the theft reports becasue of the malls and Wal Marts are always calling the police to report retail thefts.

Obviously not. Now correlate race with crime...but I guess that would be obvious.

Now, you would just have to prove it. Its political corruption and criminal in so many ways because so many suffer, just on a smaller scale like LA.

If you neglect an area long enough, let it delapitate, the city or a non-profit "buys" the property at a ridiculously low rate. Then you flood the area with government resources, new infrastructure, roads, water, sewer, etc. etc. etc. Perhaps the government even gives a grant or subsidizes the rehabilitation...over the course of the years the 100,000 investment is now worth 10,000,000. Not too shabby, and the taxpayers paid for it.

Here is a Baltimore example. For those of you intelligent enough to read this: Prime waterfront Baltimore Property sold by the City to a non profit for 89,000. Sold by non profit 6 months later for 1.5 million!!!!!!!!!! to a developer that will put $30 million worth of condos on it when the economy improves. This kind of corruption never gets exposed, because it takes legwork, investigation an a little common sense. Unfortunately, no one does investigative reporting anymore. Here's a link to the Baltimore case that got very little press:

http://sdatcert3.resiusa.org/rp_rewrite/detai...

Formor Mayor of Baltimore Schafer sold 10 billion worth of the inner harbor for $1 years ago as well.

While this may improve the look of the city, it comes at our expense and someone else's profit. Meanwhile, many suffer in crime, grime and unihabitable conditions while the values need to dwindle.

I'm on welfare, and proud of it! It's the only way that I can keep living in the suburbs. Oh and dealing drugs on occasion helps to supplement my income. I'll admit it, technically I can be considered a real "loser". Social services has been to my place twice to investigate my kids. I don't care, one of them isn't biologically mine anyway! If they put them in foster care, more money drugs, and alcohol for me!

Of course York isn't safe! As long as nobody bugs me while I do my drugs, who cares!

I do oxycontin everyday and sleep all day. I know that it is killing me, but I still can't stop. I even had two failed suicide attempts. My whole family is crazy! It would be a Christain good deed to put my kids up for foster care so they don't end up like me. I'm just not that good, though!
