Do you really think they are smart enough to remove the guns?? These people caused the death of their own child by being stupid....the other child needs to be removed because they are just another "so called"accident waiting to happen....a child shooting themselves with a loaded gun is no accident....these people do not deserve to be parents.

I am just sick. Sick over people and their conspiracy theories, sick of reading incoherent rants that are so full of grammatical and spelling errors that even the most educated cannot decipher, sick of the heartless, maniacal comments spewing forth with random insults to injury. The parents were not trailer trash welfare recipients as some are insinuating...but if they were, would that change the situation? Are you so one-dimensional and closed-minded that only trailer-trash, welfare recipients do thoughtless things? Jovan Riley was one of the most beautiful little boys I've ever laid eyes on. My daughter loved playing with him, he was happy, playful, and he had loving, caring parents. When she overheard me telling my husband what had happened, her little heart was broken, MY heart was broken! So, I can't even begin to imagine the pain of this family. Rather than trying to be CSI with your theories of testing for gunshot residue and imagining the logistics of events that led to this incident, imagine this: Jovan. His family, inclusive of all living relatives. Friends. How would YOU feel about having to go to a funeral, walking up to a tiny casket, and saying your last goodbye? I will have to find this out on Wednesday and it will be one of the hardest things I'll ever have to do. Somebody made the comment that in a month, you'll forget about this, and that is very accurate. Unfortunately, not only will the parents live with their poor judgement forever, they'll also have to be exposed inconsiderate, finger-pointers calling them murderers. They have a lifetime of shame to live with, immeasurable loss to reconcile, and an empty space in their hearts and home. Please let Jovan rest in peace and allow this family some time to grieve. Thank you.
Oh Jovan will rest in peace by the Almighty but the parents need to be resting behind an 8 by 10, of course you'll side with them because you want to find it in your heart that they weren't responsible for this heinous act...but if you step back and look at this as an outsider, how can you say, they were not NEGLIGENT in their behavior by leaving a LOADED WEAPON w/in reach of the little boy. You can't say it was an accident, an accident is forgetting to dry the floor and he falls down/injures himself...LOADED and unsecure WEAPON discharged that results in death is Manslaughter NEGLIGENCE of someone. God is going to take care of Jovan and the judicial system needs to take care of the parent(s)...as they say, someone needs to be held accountable for this.

Jovan P. Riley Jr. Died on January, Thursday 14,2010 at 8:57PM. He would of turned 3yrs old on Jan,18,2010. He had a little brother named Jayden Riley who turns 2yrs old this year. Srg. Jovan Riley (father) who is in the Marines should of known better of keeping the gun out of the reach of his (chil)dren. To clear the point to all people who think that it is a mistake, cause it is 100% NOT a mistake. The father was taught how to proply store a gun and HE choose not to. And yes He has a gun lock. The parnets cared more about what they wanted to do/wanted then what the children wanted do/wanted. Yes I have sorrow on account of them losing Jovan P. Riley Jr. But I have more sorrow for Jayden Riley who lost the best big brother ever and doesnt even know he did yet, on account of him being so little. I really hope that the DA charges the parnets or the father at least, and take Jayden Riley away from the parnets. He should not grow up living with parnets who dont give a shit on child saftey.

i live in manchester and it does not suprise me that something like this happened, there are alot of irresponsible that live around here. a boy, i was told, was seen just down the street firing a hand gun aimlessly into the woods three doors away from my house!! the parents are responsible for this horrible accident and should be charged with manslaughter, but the DA will probably let them plea bargin as usual. i have several hand guns and shot guns and they are all locked and the ammo is stored in a seperate place!! my heart goes out to the little guy may he rest in peace,,,,as for the parents,,,you can go to hell and stay there. i also hope that the cops take every gun out of that house so this never happens again!! and as for the bible bangers who say we should not judge these people,,,,you are way out of line!! stupidity should be judged by those who practice saftey and are responsible gun owners!!
the gun was under a pile of clothes how stupid is that

Hahah...they are P-A-R-E-N-T-S, not parents. Hopefully you're not not the one helping your kids with their English/Language homework. While a deceased child is a much bigger deal than ignorance, please check yourself before you check others. Oh, and it's would HAVE, not would OF. Should HAVE, not should OF. Maybe your teachers should have had their certifications taken away, hmm?

WOW ALLLL you people bashing the parents need to get a Life. First off most of you by what u are writing sounds like you have no idea what really happened to even begin with. So STOP bashing if you know nothing. So maybe if u re-read the articals you May just May get your facts straight. No parent watches there child every second while they are napping. Get over yourselves and stop bashing when u are confused because seems like you all DO NOT know what happened. Or you know but you are twisting the facts. These parents were great parents....Parents that had a set schedule everyday for there childre...anytime i saw the children they were very well behaved..Jovan Jr was a respectful lil boy very very smart come on he was 2 knew how to count high..ABC's about 20 songs Fully potty trained and always happy!! Seems to me this is just a sad sad accident that the world wishes didnt happen This family needs prayers not bashing. Give them time to grieve they are hurting if this was your child you would hurt! Stop talking trash learn the facts and Pray for this family they have lost there son who was so loved and forever will be. as for THE "Grandmothers Friend" We all know who u are speaking of..FACT..A grandmother is someone who could be a mother first!! I know her daughter personally the mother of lil jovan and she wasnt in lil jovans life nor tiffanys for many years. People grow up back off and give this family time to greive. we are all praying for this family and love this family so much!!

Put yourself in there shoes grow up and find something else to do! I do not watch over my child when she is napping How dare you all bash a family that is going through hell right now!! and so so sad and family friend I AGREE My mom has not been in my childs life nor my life so there for i would not call her right away or AT ALL either because Technically she was NOT a grandmother. but anyways the post on here from a "grandmothers friend" Dont bash if you dont know because looks like SOMEONE knows she wasnt even invloved in this childs life. this family needs time...they just lost a child even though i do not know this family i will continue praying!!

wow u have nerve for real learn the facts you seem to be someone that may know the family but just have difference with them. I think you should let the family heal. And i know the family personally and they are great parents. So you must not know anything at all. Grow up get a life and find something else to do than bash a family that is going through hell. and the parents did everything for there children so WOW move on. Lil Jovan was happy and always so respectful every time i have seen him and by the way he was a mommy's and daddy's boy attached to the hip of them and was always giving them kisses and saying i live you. So try a new one by the way your grammer and spelling looks like you may need some more schooling Oh wait let me guess your a drop out!!! Think before you speak or write a bunch of bs about this family get a heart because surley you must not have one! and by the way no one is going to take Jayden from them they are great parents it was a accident and sadly they have to live with the loss of there son forever that they loved so dearly. Grow up and have a heart (if ignorant people can possibly have one)
