I was in East York at Lowe's plant department when I first heard the engine whine/roar. I looked up when it descended/broke through the clouds and it looked VERY MUCH like Air Force One. It was blue and White with something on the tail that I couldn't quite read. It was an impressive sight!
It was WAAAYYY too low over a residential area. I don't care who it was, but we have TMI and assorted other sites that we'd prefer to stay in one piece. Where is the FINE for this maneuver??
Well, if was not a terrorist then why would there be a fine for being "too close to TMI"? No matter who is President there is no way anyone would get a fine for how AirForce 1 is used!

The Air Force and the PA Air National Guard have a minimum ceiling to fly at which is 500ft over the US. IF they are practicing touch and goes at HIA then they will be flying anywhere from 200ft to 1000ft for the maneuvers. There would be no fines for this flying because it was all approved by the FAA when the flight planes were filed.

I hope they checked with Springettsbury beforehand. They require a permit for everything and everyone, and they probably would have been required to submit flight path plans, in triplicate, to the "wonder twins" who have ultimate rule, Johnny Hole-man and Luciani the dunce.

There was a low cloud ceiling that morning, and seeing/hearing a jumbo descend through the clouds over a residential area was impressive, in a negative way.

I've seen the EC-130J (Psych Op's, out of HIA, Middletown) fly over at dusk and they don't fly as low as the plane in this event.

Definitly one of the Air Force presidential
747 fleet. Also seen them doing this about a month
or so ago as I was traveling north on 283 toward
Harrisburg. They were low and flew right over
us. Then I seen them going in for what looked like a landing. Report of touch and go practice is
probably correct.

The approach altitude for runway 13 at MDT is 2,800 feet. And the FAA has essentially confirmed, without saying so, that the plane was either SAM 28000 or SAM 29000. AKA, Air Force One minus the president.

Fifteen years ago or so I was awaiting takeoff clearance on runway 31 at MDT. I was told to hold short "for that aircraft that isn't there, the one you didn't see."

It was kind of hard to miss. Big blue and white 747. I had to wait a few minutes for the wing vortex turbulence to clear. But it was very cool. Shame I didn't see anything.

The last time I checked the air force had all kinds of planes and since C130's take off and land from air strips that are used by large jets too, maybe, just maybe, a non prop jet used the same flight path the C130's do. I don't think the planes come this way just to buzz East York, so we are under a flight path the military routinely uses. All I was saying was that large low flying military aircraft fly over the area routinely, so what allot of people saw was probably a military jet which it turned out to be. Go troll somewhere else.

Harry you are right all airports have approach and take off charts that are approved by the FAA and are updated quarterly. They are used by civilian and military aircraft.
The charts give the elevation, length, width, longitude, latitude and the approach airspeed for the runway. They all so give radio frequencies for the ground control, tower and emergency radio frequencies. The small airstrips that close at dusk even list the frequency that can activate the runway light for small private planes to land at night.

I've noticed this twice around the area where Church Road crosses Greenbriar Road at about 9:30 pm within the past month. It make loud low noise, like when you hear a plane taking off at an airport. When I saw it, there were three lights, and it appeared that one was coming off of each wing and another in the center of the plane. I don't know what it is and I can't find any other information about it. I doubt it is anything harmful, but not knowing what it is makes me feel a little bit uneasy.

It was an F15 Fighter Jet. I would assume it was flying low as part of the Security Force for the G-8 summit being held in Frederick County, MD today. Frederick County, MD borders the PA state line.

I came looking for the reason the low flying helicopter comes over my house every night. It's annoying. I am not some country hick thinking it's fun to laugh at. I am accustom to these helicopters looking for escaped criminals so thanks for all your stupid input and if someone that really knows could show up and fill in the missing links, I'd appreciate it.
