Again we thank the Naacp for taking another slang word out of american history and making it illegal to say. This definetly will help black african americans better themselves and uphold their moral obligation to society.

Stupid politically correct reporting.
The story fails to include the "offensive" word,
so WHAT is the point of the story?
Americans should start
saying whatever they want to
(First Amendment,
remember what that is?)
instead of cowering
before the PC speech police...

Good Job Sun - Now how about reporting on what Obama's Hate Speech Preacher said - I don't see that making headlines - Newsweek didn't even cover it - Let the Free Ride Continue

Another racist drooler is identified in Carroll County. What a shock. The only surprising thing in the story is the chicken-sh*t way the Board of Education dealt with the matter. The guy should be gone, back to pest control business, or whatever bottom dwelling job he uses to support himself.

I believe there is a type of rock they call "N"heads, though I have absolutely no idea why. Very poor judgement, but let it go- he apologized.

I am from Carroll County and am not surprised. Though I grew up there in the 70s when Klan members stood on Main Street in full robe (faces proudly visible) handing out pamphlets, things have not progressed far enough. It is a segregated county with places like Black School House Road. Any racial reconciliation in Carroll County will be window dressing as it is everywhere else. It's going to take a lot more than some "educational" programs based on an idiotic comment from a Board member. In Carroll County, if you're white, others will tell you racially insensitive jokes, assuming that you'll agree. That's the systemic, nearly genetic, racism that exists in Carroll County and other areas. That's a long way from reconciliation.

This was an "off the cuff" remark that was not directed to anyone. I suppose if he had said "negro rock" his statement would have been okay.
It seems to be alright if white people are called "redneck", "whities", "honkys", "white Trash" etc. What's blacks get away with is also racist.

And black people trashing our otherwise clean Lutherville Light Rail stop does not help reconciliation either.

Wow. An old, slang term for a type of rock. I say let's have a public hanging, then burn his body, kill all of his offspring, burn his house & all his belongings.
Then we can have the "REV"s Wright, Jackson & Sharpton, gather at the site to denounce the horriffic white racism in Carroll County.
Meanwhile, 3 more murders will take place on the beautiful streets of Baltimore.

The fact that a school official would say that shows how insensitive
he is and how ingrained rascism is in our system . And the fact that you call that 'off the cuff' not directed at anyone shows your insensitivity . No one has the right to call someone else a vile name no one . I hate the term "white trash'
and refuse to use it , however a lot of whites use it . I don't like that any better than blacks using the N word.

Scott , why just not say he was wrong , instead
of joining him in making divisive comments . If you notice murders are down 50%
this year since Dixon goes after violent offenders
instead of just locking up every thing that moves
without proper charges like O'Malley did

The NAACP should spend their energy making sure that Black students go to school regularly, take their education seriously, and getting their people off welfare. Try taking a positive role in society instead of having generation after generation on the welfare roles, with the attitude that everyone owes them. Many blacks have taken a positive role in society and I congratulate them as upstanding roles models and citizens.

Larry,
To answer your question: Because once again, we are making much ado about nothing! Would I use that terminolgy, no. No one in my family would.
It's time for "SOME" noisey members of the black community to stop grandstanding about these meaningless things, and start addressing the real problems in parts of the black community. They could start by addressing the widespread use of the "n" word themselves!

Morse and Ecker need to go. The response was a joke. Carroll will continue to have the redneck reputation if matters like this are not dealt with appropriately. Ecker's time has come and gone. Carroll needs new leadership across the board, but especially in the school system.
