The Berkshires get there fuel from barges, coming up the Hudson River to Albany/Renselear, NY, then trucked in or from a ship to Bridgeport,Ct., up a pipeline to Springfield, then trucked in. Every mode of transport during this process gets money. You do the math. New Jersey has refineries. All they have to do is truck it to the pumps. Plus their taxes might be a little different than Mass., but NJ is about 20 cents cheaper than the Berkshires, on average.

Connecting the price of gas with prices of houses is insane. How stupid can you get!

Actually, both buildings and oil are commodities and equally influenced by monetary policy over the long run. In the short run, both are volatile.

The relationship between the price of gas and the price of crude oil is about where it has been historically right now. Those prices were the same for most of 2006 as they are now.

These prices diverged sharply from the historical relationship last Summer when the price of crude was relatively much higher than the price of gas. We are fortunate that gas prices were not at $6.00 or more last Summer.

You can make a chart and look for yourself here:

Why nobody praise our President for low gas prices?
Why nobody praise the President for historically low mortgage rates? Why nobody praised the President for preventing even single attack on the USA for 7 years? The reason is simple - democRATs and their Dr. Goebbels media are shameless liars and thieves without even shred of decency!

In Republican Texas gas is around $2.20 per gallon
In Democrat San Francisco gas is $3.36

When Democrats took over Congress in 2006 gas was around $2.20 nationally. Now we are in the middle of an economic breakdown and gas still isn't back down to that level.

Hey, anybody consider that Manchester is on the commuter train line and people have other options than driving their car?
Less demand means lower prices.

We won't let the oil companies drill. We have taxes on gas.We have low prices compared to the people in Europe who you idiots think hate us.And you ask why prices are high? They are not high but any idiot who would vote for Osama Obama who wasn't born in the U.S. and can not be the legally elected president will say any lie just like a nazi or a communist.Any lie. Bush lied is the most treasonous lie the pig democRATs have yet.Bush stole the election...another flat out lie from pigs who like homosexuals being in your face and murdering unborn babies by the million.Economy in ruins from Barney Frank and Clinton and crew giving loans to poor people and then selling them in bundles all over the world.democRATS control congress for two years and what happens? High school students can not name the ocean east of Boston.Social decay from welfare rats out breeding the working class and being paid to do so.Our only hope is the south will save us from the total destruction of the extreme socialist Obama and his brainless followers.Adolph and Goebels couldn't have done a better job.

It's still much higher than it was when he took office, and he had nothing to do with the recent lower price.

Sara, as a true democRAT you have to lie even about these prices. I guess it is liberal mental sickness - they can not say even one word of truth..

So our President has anything to do with high gas prices and nothing to do with low prices! Typical disgusting brainless liberal lunatic! Why these creatures ever were born?

It is really surprising to hear it from "liberal" vampires and cannibals who trashed and ate alive our President and all his cabinet for 8 years 24/365.

Wow the conservatives ae really starting to cry in their beer. George W. Bush has done nothing to help the American People, has led our country into financial ruin and will only continue in his lunacy until 01-20-09. He took office with a surplus and is leaving with the largest deficit, and he had control of congress for the first six years and could did nothing to make the country better for the poor, lower and middle classes. His joke of a one time stimulus check was nothing moe that a political ploy to make McCain look good. What it really accomplished was to increase our federal debt.
