I find it odd that the discussion to close schools and re-open Horse Creek comes up just two months shy of an election for three board members. It is obvious they are trying to get votes by doing this!

The old clique game of education and politics being entangled is tiresome and only benefits the few. We need serious change in leadership at the Board of Education! We can do better!

Oh, I am real, at least I was the last time I pinched myself or got attacked by a mosquito.

Facilitating important conversations about critical issues is a responsibility of each citizen and I am an individual who wants to improve our community for everyone.

I only want others to be able to learn, earn, and have a better quality of life. We can do better!

I am hopeful that all the incumbents have significant challenges and that the hard working moms, blue collar dads, grandparents, and youth voters will take advantage of this opportunity to make change happen.

Every election cycle provides an opportunity to remove inept, incompentent, and ineffective officials with new leaders to move us forward together.

I think the momentum is good for the electorate to make change happen at the BoE and the City Council. If everyone that is posting on topix and sharing their concerns goes to the polls and takes someone with them we can make change happen! Together we can do better! United we stand, divided we fall!

If the school board is broke then I want to know how they can advertise for all these jobs right now? If you ain't got money then how can you create new made up jobs for politics???? Why not pay your bus drivers and cooks a little more since you got this money to make up jobs.
I bet anything these jobs go to people they think that can help them in the elections!

There's two district wide coordinator jobs posted right now. I've applied, but I'm sure they will go to someone "in the know".

With a steadily shrinking student population base I wonder how they will have any money to be able to build anything with, since they would lose funding for each student lost. I agree that Horse Creek needs to be reopened and a new vocational school built, but the funding would be harder to find. This is also after a ton of cash was spent remodeling most of the county's elementary schools, so it's rather doubtful they have any free money to play with towards other projects. They're most likely still paying off the remodeling jobs as we speak.

You don't know what you're talking about. It's not our vocational school, the state provides 100% of the construction, operating, personnel and maintence costs. Why would we need to reopen Horse Creek? It isn't being used now and you just said we can expect to continue having fewer students in the district.
