I really wish the historical society would consider building a new swinging bridge. Since they have declared this site a historical. I dont really know who would be responsible for the new or refurbished swinging bridge. Does anyone know if the the City or the Historical Society. Looks like to me the cities insurance would be resonsible if someone got hurt on that death trap of a bridge. I know there is chains & planks up to keep people off the bridge but that doesnt mean it will keep them off the bridge. I would love to see Manchester become the most beautiful little city.

I walked that Ole Swinging Bridge a many time while i was growing up. A lot of people used that Bridge to get into town from Rabbit Ridge/East Manchester instead of going all the way up across East Manchester Bridge. I'm like ol Kindly, i wished they would fix it back up so i could walk across it one more time.

I grew up in East Manchester and walked that ole bridge countless times. Brings back a lot of memories. Those sure were the good ole days, and like the two of you, I would love to walk across it at least one more time. Maybe a lot of us that used to live on that side of the river could have a get together and all walk across it one more time.

I also grew up in E. Manchester and that bridge was awesome. I'm glad that at least they did not tear it down.

You need to contact the county judge all swinging bridges are owned by the county not the city I used to work for the county years ago and we use to fi the swinging bridges includeing the one on bridge street.

I remember putting trip wire across the swinging bridge and other parts of town does anyone remember this or was a victim of this we where just kids but it was very funny at the time and when you think about it it still is if we saw old folks we would stop them and look like heroes when we would cut it it was always at each end comeing off not actually on it we werent that cruel
