To my son's birth mom:
Grateful beyond words

I begged God to help me forget you.
But, He said, "That's not my plan."
"For this young girl has been forgotten...
...time and time again."

"But, Lord, it hurts my heart to know,
the life she had to live."
And He tells me, "Keep praying each day,
It's for her--- my life--- I give."

"But, why pick me? Life's unfair!
My blessings, they overflow.
And she's only been given loss and shame
and a neglected childhood, you know!"

"It's not just for you or for him.
My plans they will be.
It's for her- and her forgotten childhood
She was cheated, don't you see?"

"She'll know he's cherished and loved
Living the life she should have had
Breaking the cycle of neglect and abuse
Just wait- He'll be a great dad!"

"But, to love him is not enough!
To call him my own is not hard to do!"
And, then God answered me quietly,
"It's not enough...
I want you to love her too."

And, so I love you, yes I do.
I pray both day and night.
For God's blessings to pour down on you.
For doing what was right.

For you took the only good thing that you had.
And handed him, trusting to me.
Every day I am deeply overwhelmed
By this precious gift, you see.

He's perfect and he's beautiful.
He has your blue eyes, do you know?
But, his eyes won't darken in sadness
of painful memory scars to show.

And he will always love you
For your story, he'll be told.
Of a young girls love wrapped in hopelessness
And her decision - oh so bold.

He'll see the photo of you cradling him
on the day that he was born.
And know a mother's love is evident
on heart's scars she's chosen to worn.

And so my plan is to love you...
praying each and every day.
For God to find you where you're at,
And His hands on you to lay.

And with each candle that is lit
And blown out year after year
A smile for him, on my face, you'll find
and for you, in my eye, a tear.

For my dreams for you are endless
that you make it through someday.
And break the cycle that binds you
overcoming your past someway.

Can you imagine the places you would go?
The person you could become?
With God, your strength, and power
And the overflowing grace of His son?

I don't know if we'll meet again.
If it is within God's plan.
But if we do... a tight hug you will find
From my loving, grateful, indebted hands.

Indebted forever and ever,
Thank you.

Unable to sleep for The Lord has placed you in the depths of my heart this quiet night like so many times before. My prayer for you is this, may The blessings God has in store for me today... Be given instead to you. For your decision has blessed us more than you may ever know. May you experience God's goodness pouring over your soul. May you experience overflowing joy that can only be found in knowing that your Heavenly Father loves you more than you can ever imagine. May you sleep in peace knowing that your sacrifice is honored by The Lord. May he soothe your pain. With endless love for you. Prayers for you today and tomorrow and yesterday...and always.
