The question isn't if its going to happen in your schools its just a matter of who the nut job is who wakes up that morning and decides to pull off such a terrible stunt. I've always felt the more people talk about it the more it gives this type of behavior glory and gives losers something to be remembered for. You have the media coming up with assumptions to beat the other network, you have books, tv shows, talking about it, and giving this person a mark in history. Its just who the person is I guess and if they want to try to one up the one before him. Every time you hear about something like this happening its always compared to the one before it and if its more tragic than the last one. What this monster did was beyond mortifying. I mean its not a matter of if you can stop it its all built around when will it happen again. Honestly if you want to die then by all means pop one in your head but to take anyones life and then kill yourself is the most coward thing I can think of. Lets just keep those folks in our thoughts, and if you're religious keep them in your prayers. Lots of those families need them right now.

Unless someone else decided to have a gun or just out of the blue a cop decided to patrol the school. I mean you're spot on with your comment. I hate to say this and that its actually came down to this but we'll eventually come to were they have an armed person that ya don't know about carrying a loaded pistol or something along that nature. Kinda like I guess the guy who sits on a plane armed. I honestly don't have any idea how they'll pull this off in the near future.

I have no idea :( I mean honestly what do you tell a child that's afraid to go to school because of the bully? You most of the time tell them to go and stand up to it but this is a different kind of fear that you won't walk away from if you're chosen that day. I guess in the end the best thing to do is talk to them about the value of life and hope that they aren't the ones behind the trigger. I mean honestly you'd LOVE to tell them that there is nothing to fear but do you really wanna lie to em and have em hold it against ya? Of course not. The best thing to do is just tell them what to try to do in that situation I guess. I honestly wish I had an answer for you, as well as myself but I have nothing. Lets just hope that our's, and everyone else's kids as well as anyone else living and breathing out there is safe from this. Lets hope if that situation ever occurs we have brave staff, security, etc with our children like they had up there. Risking their lives and giving them up for those kids to stay safe.

Plus forgive my rambling. This tragedy has haunted me for days.

Every place is bound to make mistakes. You can point fingers, blame this, blame that, but in the end things like that just happen. Are you to blame when your child falls of a bike cause you were cleaning the gutters? I'm not attacking ya personally and I understand what you're getting at but honestly if I was watching that many children I'm most certain something would happen along those lines. Just be thankful it wasn't fatal. Remember folks accidents, and shit happens everyday, and it could be us at fault next for turning our backs for that split second to focus on something else going on around us.

This is reality, we can not and never will be able to completely stop violence, accidents, slip ups or things that make up life. Its sad all those children and teacher were murdered, but look at our society today how things have decade. I just love when all these people start crying were was god. Its easy to say were god was he is locked outside the schools were people have put him. Will this happen again yes, will taking guns stop it no. Its like when a 18 wheeler crashes and kills more then one person you have those who would want to ban big trucks. A gun has never like a vehicle killed someone on its on, it takes a human either by accident, on purpose through insanity, evil wickness to do such a thing. Can we limit school violance, yes with vigalance, awareness and having in schools trust worthy people that are there for no other purpose other than security safety of schools. If someone is intent on carring out such acts s what happened they will use anymeans, does not have to be with guns, could be bombs, fire, a vehicle or god only knows what there evil minds will dream up. Personaly i know there is a evil in this world, it is satan, he will play with peoples mind, convince them of things, promise them things and have them do things that only he would dream of doing.

Ya know you were spot on with everything else except the religious parts. I'm pretty sure that in the end God has a plan for everyone and the whole Satan tempts people falls into the same medium along with each other. All that happened was a madman walked into a school and shot a bunch of people as well as his mom. I mean honestly you could go into the (god has a plan for everyone) and intended for this boy to do all of this I guess for shits and giggles but that would only contradict itself I guess. Honestly I'd rather my children be taught to love and help others instead of being scared into it with Hell, Fire, and Brimstone. I mean I'm an Atheist who lives life with Happiness, Kindness, and all that good corny nonsense and I couldn't imagine doing this nor anyone else for that matter that I know of. But honestly you are right about everything else and amazing post on everything else. You were spot on with the accidents and what not. Hope to hear more from ya :)

This may be true in a sense, but if one of my children were roaming down the road after walking out of school, I would most certainly raise cain! I send my children to school to obtain an education and while they're there, they are supposed to be safe, being monitered and supervised! Don't let my child be hurt or killed because of flat out negligence on someones part and tell me "shit happes". If that is your attitude concerning your child/children, I pity those kids!

I have a couple of ideas that may help:

1. Make it just as hard to get into the school buildings as it is to get into James Phillips office to renew a driver's license. Front door is the only door unlocked and it has a metal detector and an armed guard sitting at it.

2. Stop teaching kids that they came from animals and that life has no meaning. Teach them Values, Morals, Ethics, and Eternal Accountability as part of their education.

The guy who committed the atrocity in Conn. was very insane, no doubt, but he also was a product of secular humanism and Godless Atheism that is now promoted exclusively by academia.

the mother knew her son was sick, she had her weapons, and food stockpiles, she should have kept her guns locked in a safe. such a tragedy yes, but she had not used enough common sense to lock the weapons away from a disturbed son. this is one reason we do not need to have weapons of mass destruction. parents sometimes are careless with their own guns.

I have 7 grandchildren and 2 are in elememtary and one in preschool,We need more stringent rules for visitors and others.I remember when Scotty was took out of paces creek.that was a horrendeous crime and no one should have had access to that baby.. except his real mommy.not his step mom or her freind.we DO NOT NEED assault weapons in our homes nor to we need huge amounts of bullets..these are our children. We have to PROTECT THEM from people like the shooter in Conn

Agreed with the weapons part. Honestly I agree anyone has the right to own a gun for self defense but who the hell really needs an Assault Rifle? But even then who knows what the guy might have came up with later on. Perhaps a bomb killing more than he did?

An "assault Rifle" is simply a semi-automatic rifle with a military configuration. I hunt with a semi-auto browning 30-06. I coult use it, even in the civilian configuration as it is to do mass killings if I was a nut-job.

Fact is, the problem with an "Assault Rifle" is the first word, "Assault" wich is done by an individual, not an inanimate object (Rifle).

So, lets work harder on banning "Assaults", whioch is the real problem. Maybe if or "justice" system was not such a joke, there would be fewer assaults.
