I think we should be aloud in the school. It made me feel so safe walking my children to their rooms of a morning and picking them up of a afternoon. Its not a good feeling not being aloud to do that and are your child cry cause you can't. If your not a parent you really Dont understand. Yes we want our children protected at all cost. But when you are prohibited in the school it doesn't make you feel good. I like talking to the teachers and checking on my children's behavior and how they are doing with their work. I Dont like waiting till the progress reports and report cards. I Dont let my kids ride the bus Thats my way of trying to keep them safe. Older kids pick on the little ones. I can't have middle schoolers and high schoolers picking on my kids. Also. We can't be in the school for the after school practices. I Dont think that is fair either. I want to be there if one gets hurt during a practice. Like someone said earlier we are family down at burning springs. We all know each other and lookout for one another children. Kendra should bring back the open door policy. Her children go to school there so she can do these things. We should to.
Kids need to learn independence -parents can't hold their hand forever. This is why we have so many young people who can't hold a job- never been expected to do anything on their own. I know some parents who tried to walk their kids in every morning like they were 2 year olds. Honestly- I like the fact that 100 or more parents and other people aren't walking around in these schools. It would cause total distractions for the teachers and staff not to mention the danger of someone being in the crowd that doesn't belong and only reason for being there is to be up to "no good" You need to do a good job with your kids while they are at home and let the teachers and staff do their jobs once the kids are at school. A good parent realizes they need to let their child learn responsibility and to bee able to grow up as a responsible hard working adult.

Parent, if you're THAT afraid for your child's safety in the school building without you there, then why are you not homeschooling them? That's about the only way you'd know for sure what's going on with them 24/7.

I don't know about how Burning Springs did their pick-ups in the afternoons, but we have never had to stand outside while waiting for our kids.

The other poster is right about not allowing 100 people in the hallways during the day. I know the first day of school last year AT LEAST 100 parents wanted to walk their kids to their rooms. It would have been absolute chaos with a bunch of people running down the halls, kids would STILL be crying (and even more annoying that some adults would be too), and just more commotion for the teachers to have to deal with.

I remember Ms. Hooker from Goose Rock and I think she will be a great principal for your school. She was always great with my children when around them and never hesitated to update me on anything going on when she saw me or if I asked to speak with her.

Hey mominmanchester

I don't know who you are and and what your background is and I do not want you wondering around my kids school for any reason whatsoever. Maybe you should homeschool your little dumplings or take them to the christine academy.

I'm saying this to try and show you why folks can not just come and go in the schools, to many freaks out there our kids must be kept safe and if that means I have to let them make their ow way to class then so be it, this is a great first step in learning to be independent.

Due to the safety of the students and recent and past events, this is no longer an option for the school system. It poses to much risk to the student body and faculty.

It really doesn't matter who else applied. These jobs are predetermined according to how much pull you have with the board.
