i hope she brings back the open door policy,, because i use to be able to keep up with everything my son did, because i would get to talke to his teacher everyday when i picked him up from the class room, and the past year when they changed it,, i havent a clue what goes on with him at school.. I really would recommend them to bring back the open door policy,, we are all like family down there and with the closed door rules it stinks,, makes me want to take my child to another school.. so i hope she gets it back to an open door policy,, thanks

Letting every parent into your school with the "open door" policy is a horrible idea. Yes I understand you want access to your kids and their teachers but it is not safe at all. Logically no school in the county should have the "open door" policy

That will never happen no one is allowed to walk into schools, security is paramount, kids have to be protected at all cost.

Every teacher should have a web page up and working so parents can check it and see what is going on in their classroom. The open door policy is a thing of the past because of safety concerns.

Open door policy is dangerous. Student's safety needs to be top priority.

You can use the parent portal on infinite campus to view daily activities / grades.

I agree with the website thing. The Infinite Campus site is great for grades and such, but it doesn't have any sort of space for what is actually going on in the classroom. Things like spelling word lists, stories being read, subjects in science/social studies... etc. The new school websites have these types of spaces, but I'd bet it'd be like pulling teeth to get some teachers to do them regularly.

Maybe the schools could have a training for the parents on how to access and use the infinite campus, its a wonderful tool for keeping up with your kids

I think we should be aloud in the school. It made me feel so safe walking my children to their rooms of a morning and picking them up of a afternoon. Its not a good feeling not being aloud to do that and are your child cry cause you can't. If your not a parent you really Dont understand. Yes we want our children protected at all cost. But when you are prohibited in the school it doesn't make you feel good. I like talking to the teachers and checking on my children's behavior and how they are doing with their work. I Dont like waiting till the progress reports and report cards. I Dont let my kids ride the bus Thats my way of trying to keep them safe. Older kids pick on the little ones. I can't have middle schoolers and high schoolers picking on my kids. Also. We can't be in the school for the after school practices. I Dont think that is fair either. I want to be there if one gets hurt during a practice. Like someone said earlier we are family down at burning springs. We all know each other and lookout for one another children. Kendra should bring back the open door policy. Her children go to school there so she can do these things. We should to.

Whoever the principal is can't change this policy. This would have to be changed by the superintendent. I doubt this will every happen since some many things are going on in the public schools. You might should take your concerns to the local board meeting.

They did have one at Goose Rock when they first rolled it out, but there have been updates and might be a good refresher time. I still think they teachers could do the website pages as well with classroom happenings, rules, and such. That way we're not clueless as to what exactly is going on during the day. If you've not looked at them, they hold a lot of potential to keep parents up to date.

Honestly, I wouldn't like the open door policy to come back. Perhaps they should have an open house a day or two before school starts, especially for those in pre-K through 1st grade. Usually by then the kids have the hang of school and don't really need to be walked to class.

Things just are not as safe as they used to be, and having that type of policies makes it much, much harder to keep those who aren't supposed to be there out. If you really need to talk to your child's teacher, why not call and set up an appointment to talk to them? I've never had a problem doing this.

I love my children Thats why i want to be there. To make sure they get to class. They are my babies i will not cut the cord. My oldest yeah she know what shes going because ahem is in the 4th grade this year but i have one going into the 1st grade. Shes the one who crys because i can't kiss her goodbye and walk her down the hall. My kids are loved and nurtured Im one in very few these days who care about my kids and their education. I make sure that they are involved somehow or another. Thats how i was brought up. When i can't be a good parent and walk them inside it makes me and other parents not welcome. The way we had to pick them up last year was ridiculous. Stand in the pouring rain , freeZing weather snow and what have you and the hot temperatures. When you have sick children still at home that made it really hard. Im not the only one who feels this way. And another thing. When they stopped us from going in they said the little ones would be walked to the door that was a lie. Mine never was nor was anyone else's. Unless they had butt kissers for parents. If it was raining the teacher on duty stayed in their vehicle. There was one who would help the smaller kids if it was a rough morning, he should have gotten the principal job. Hes showed me more in the last five year than kendra has in one. The kids respect him. But Thats neither here or there. if we won't be aloud in the school again this year we should at least be aloud to drop them off in the front and not the back. Due to the breeZe way. I got my butt chewed last year for dropping them off there cause it was raining and i didn't want them getting soaked. I could go on and on.
