Most every citizen wants and desires real change for our community. I have heard the same thing for many years growing up. living, and working here in my hometown. So, change, what is it?

Change requires that we be more open minded, more inclusive of others, and yes, that means we have to be civic minded and engaged in the process.

Change will necessitate that ALL voters to participate at higher levels in each election cycle. For far too long, generations, the same ole clique has assured election and re-election to the dismay and disatisfaction of many who want and deserve a more effective, competent, and public service oriented local government.

Change will lso require that we try new and innovative ideas to usher in sustainable growth and development. Many manufacturing jobs as we all know have gone overseas which leaves us with medium skill and hi tech industrial skill manufacturing that require education and training to meet employer demands.

We should insist that local leaders think anew, think fresh, and advocate to our Board of Education officials that the new ATC will offer high tech, high wage, high demand training for students.

We should insist upon transparency of tax revenues and expenditures. Both the city and county have significant funding sources and budgets are fiscal priorities. Any and all funds that are not REQUIRED to pay for essential services should and could be deposited into an econmic development fund acount that can earn interest dividends as well as be tapped for legitimate and purposeful uses that lead to economic development.

All we tend to hear is the negative and we have postives that can be better utilized and promoted to grow our community, but we must be willing to think and act differently. How about a postive, pro-growth agenda? How about working together to engage elected officials to support real economic development projects.

Together, as citizens and voters we can ask more of our elected officials and demand a more effective local government that is oriented to public service and not self-service.

Together, we can do better! My children, your children, and your grandchildren deserve a more prosperous community that will afford them an opportunity to live and work close to home!

I am just wondering what political office this stam is so hot to get, he sounds just like a typical politican. He yeps out all this we need this wee demand that, just like a politican, all you get is hot air from a windbag. Yea we need change starting with the people changing how they live, what they settle for and quit looking for favors in return for their votes. The ones running needs to be honest, tell the people exactly to their face you got to change, stop being satisfied with the good old boy system and quit expecting favors for your votes, this everyoes ship not just for those that want something for themselfs but for everyone. Stop this yacking everytime someone disagrees with them and realize they more to a community then liquor stores, beer joints an eating places. Its such a shame that people think alcohol sales is only thing make this place grow. Awhile back i read a post on here its was the gospel truth, untill we get better access to this area, like a bigger highway, or airport or a rail system they not going to be any large company want to come here. You all that gripe about london, look what they have, I-75 an a airport with a rail system thats why they get things not because of genius leaders, common sense is all it takes to figure that out not big words or politican speeches just common sense.
