This case is a perfect example of how wrong the federal courts mandatory mininum sentencing guidelines are.
Our federal court system is so screwed when it comes to sentencing offenders at the federal level. It is driven by greed instead of being driven by justice. The punishment should fit the crime. No two cases are alike so there is no mandatory fix for every crime.
Americans are getting very sick of child rapists and murderers getting less time than people growing weed. Rob a bank and get 20 plus laid on you. Kill your neighbor and rape his underage daughter you mite get 20. You will more than likely parole out in about 3 years or less.
Its time for a major change in America. Thats not going to happen as long as hal rogers and mitch mcconnell are in office. They arent the only two reprobates in washington that need to be put out to pasture. Get rid of the old blood if you want change in America.
Agreed, couldn't have said it better, but most commentators on here don't have a clue as to what the guidelines is they just spout off their hatred or ignorance!!!

Wow you are crazy as I have ever seen, you think a death penalty is ok for vote fraud. Murderers and rapist don't get that most of the time, I know a murder case in this town where a man shot a woman in the face and shot 2 more and served 5 years, so I think your crazy for even saying your comments. I know what they did was wrong, but heck no i think they got screwed by the justice system, starting from Reeves all the way down to the agents that told lies and put words in their mouths. Oh and by the way if you think it's your right to vote, then by all means use it, but your vote probably helped a even more corrupt official. The vote buyers wouldn't have bought votes if there was no losers selling their votes. Why doesn't everyone see them as a criminal? I know cause you had something personal against one of them.
You point out random incidents involving a few individuals and the desperate people who sold their votes knowing those votes were otherwise worthless. This is all much more. The actions of these men have served to destroy our community and the hopes and dreams we've held for our children and grandchildren. There can be no justice.

Your so right, this so called cleaning up the corruption has not cleaned our town up. Look at our education system, its failing our children at best! The corruption is still going on just different names and ways to keep it hush hush. The politics in our town is just a small scale of what goes on in all of this country. Congress, senate, and presidents are all corrupt, just do your homework and you will see buying elected positions has always taken place, just different ways and amounts of money or I scratch your back if you scratch mine. Moonshine was used for years to buy votes, you all act like these guys (the Clay Eight) was doing something new. Do you not remember the prior office holders that was more corrupt then most mob's? Other towns in this state have had the same arrest and convictions of leaders for the identical crimes and these men was given months not years or a life sentence. The crime doesn't fit the punishment, its plain and simple!

I agree 100%. I went to CCHS my freshmen year, moved and went to another school my sophomore and junior year, then returned my senior year to find that it had dramatically changed for the worst.

I would bet these cases are over turned by the Sixth Circuit. The sentences are draconian, and have no place in our justice system.
I'm thinking their cases will be overturned. They were overturned for the Jones family! I don't think they have to appear!
