Sorry Hitler that you were born without a brain just like your namesake. The previous mayor left us with a debt that will almost never be paid, she knows that & you know that. She even had the pictures removed off the walls. Son, anyone can plant a few rosé bushes in front of 911 that looks like crap, that does not make for a good mayor. You need to crawl back under your little rock & suck your thumb like a good little boy, Lewis will never be back!!!!!!

You are a waste of money, from hardworking honest tax payers, always standing with your hand out wanting something for nothing & that's what you contribute to society...Nothing. You're just a waste of oxygen. Real smart you are (lol)!

The lake could be situated in various locales since we have significant contributary water sources that can feed into an impoundment area such as the South Fork of the Kentucky River, the Red Bird River, and a number of creeks flowing into the Goose Creek, etc. Needless to say geologic surveys and other logisticals concerns would need to be researched and addresses, but local leaders should move on this project as soon as possible. Again, it is another piece of a comprehensive economic development to move us into the future rather than continue to lag behind. Leadership is the essential element.

The Army Corps of Engineers are in charge of surveys for lakes and the building of dams. This one has been researched of sorts anyway. There was once a plan to Dam the Kentucky River just below the confluences of it's three major tributaries. Considering the height of the dam and the fact that the tributaries came out of Perry, Leslie, and Clay county, the water would have backed up into the Fogertown area and pretty much wiped out Oneida and all the low lying areas between Fogertown and Oneida. Of course, it would have been one of the biggest lakes in the nation and brought quite a bit of prosperity to many people. As of now, the plan sits idle due to the number of people who would have been displaced. Personally, I would like to see it.

Getting a lake just in Clay County would probably require building a dam either across the Red Bird River, the Goose Creek River or below the confluence of these two rivers on the South Fork. That in itself would be no small lake assuming that dam was build with adequate height. It would displace a lot of people but then Clay County could become a tourist attraction with a more urban population. Probably a good thing but will never happen.

The primary water providing watersheds for Kentucky are in the Eastern Kentucky region. The ridge running pretty much parallel to the Red Bird River could be called the Kentucky divide as all the headwaters originate in the Harlan area and that ridge divides the watersheds into the Kentucky River going North and the Cumberland River going West. Harry Caudill once proposed building a series of dams to create several lakes in Eastern Kentucky and moving all the people into about six urban areas in the higher elevations. Probably the only thing that would save the area, but will never happen. The way money is spent on projects is to keep people happy and not to help the economy. The cost of the flood wall around Pineville would have been sufficient to relocate everybody in the area that are now protected and still have money left over, and the people not on the right side of wall would not have as much risk of flooding.

City is broke cause of y holler. The city will probably never get it paid off and previous owners hope not because city is paying them big time interest. Some of you ought to go to a council meeting and ask how much has been paid on the y hollow and how much of that is interest only. no one wants to own it because of the enviroment damage that will have to be fixed. City GOOFBALLS fell for a big time scam after other citys and countys refuzed cause it was a obvious scam. people told city officers that it was a scam but they did'nt listen. GOOFBALLS ! Now city needs to annex other people to help pay the bills the GOOFBALLS ran up. I heard Ben Carnahan at the meeting and he was right. City wants new citysons to bail city out of problems caused by GOOFBALLS. Maybe people in Manchester should be asking county to annex them out of the city cause of too many GOOFBALLS.

The City should just default the debt on the Y-Hollow. It's a liability anyway.

No doubt, but all they would get is the land back and City may not get any equity. So what? The place is a liability anyway and the City may have to spend more money to keep it and get it to standards than it would cost simply to default. Sometimes it's better to cut your losses and run. It's not like it would hurt the city's credit.

Yeah, small loss just expensive. If the Golden Triangle continues to grow you may see it. They'll have to have water and that would provide all they would ever need.

Explain how it works then. Municipal governments default all the time with little consequence other than a little bad publicity. If the place was worth $900,000 and they've paid some on it then they could be sued if they defaulted but the award to the sellers would be no more than get the property back and keep the money. The City would be better off.
